I binge read through this entire series.

Why is it so good? The premise is so fucking stupid and the author seems to make half the shit up on the spot, but when it works it fucking works.

Double surprised to see it was originally a Jump webcomic.

Not really, that's kind of the point.
Humanity is pretty much done and just taking its time to finish dying.
Even the one crazy immortal's plan isn't about saving humanity but just using up what's left of it for one last accomplishment.

It's another one of those manga that demonstrates a fundamental truth of human creations:

IMPLEMENTATION >>>>>>>>> IDEAS.

Basically, and insane ridiculous premise done by an author in a fun solid way with good characters will always be massively (and surprisingly) better then a really interesting sensible setting/premise done by a hack, or even by someone average. Often good authors go with "sensible" settings but it's nothing inate at all, which leads to the

type of series. They're rare but they're some of my favorites.
