Japan is weird like that. The big Meiji Restoration countries (France, UK, US) have nothing to complain about in terms of representation in anime, but for example the Dutch really get the short end of the stick. For centuries (through Dejima) they were Japan's lifeline to the outside world, and the Japs appear to have forgotten about them. Meanwhile, you can't go twelve anime without having fucking Finland mentioned.

Canada is one of the better countries in the world to live in but it has little influence or cultural output that the world sees outside of "hockey eh". It's likely a consequence of growing up alongside the most powerful country on the planet, it's hard not to get overshadowed and many homegrown talents simply head south of the border.
