Am I one of the few who actually enjoyed episode 10? It was one of my favorites. Not because of the "romance", but because it made Akko actually endearing and worth supporting. She's been spouting the same stuff over and over again but this is the first time it came off as genuine instead of annoying.

Episode 10 is legit. Her relationship with Andrew really sells her character, mostly because he seems to be the only one affected by her. Sucy might be but "kills" that part of her, Lotte seems weirded out by it, Diana is boring as fuck, and everyone else is an asshole.

However, her dancing like a retard on the fountain and making Andrew smile makes you go "You know maybe there's something to what she's saying beyond childishness".

I don't really care for the romance and probably would have preferred Andrew's reaction simply be Diana's, but then the /u/posting would be fucking unbearable so I'll just deal with it.

Also if the recent episode is something to go by Diana isn't supposed to be affected by Akko's "Yay-magic" yet, instead going down a darker path (maybe, just speculation).

diana's character is merely a foil that has to work together with akko eventually to make a conciunctio oppositorum, as they get over each others differences in approach where diana is a very studious and by-the-books technical master and akko is an overly optimistic but childish dreamer who follows the nose of passion

That's not quite it. In episode 2, when Diana read the spell for Akko, Akko accepted her help without issues. If they haven't gotten any closer since then, or work together again, it's because Diana is keeping her distance. Akko is always open, even to Diana if she ever got the stick out of her ass.

The problem is, Diana doesn't want be the one helping the hero. This might sound too meta, but she wants to the be the hero herself, the one to save the school, the one to save magic. And yeah, part of the reason is her pride. Of course, there's probably more to it, but that's part of it.

Akko and Diana won't be able to work together until Diana accepts that she's not the hero, Akko is. But it will take a lot of humility to accept that. She'll probably have to make a huge mistake before she gets to that point in her character development.

The only reason why I dislike this idea, in the case that it does happen, is what the message is implying. The show is an allegory to the animation industry.

I'm totally accepting of newcomers coming in to help the industry as a whole. But, the idea that veterans or talent have to step aside for them to be the heroes rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I'm too much into schmaltz, but it'd be much better if both sides worked together and learned from each other. I do think that Diana needs to help Akko though.

The difference between Diana and Andy is that Diana is an actual character with plot relevance an arc that will cover all of the second cour while Andy is basically just an accessory for Akko to enhance her characterization and he has a relatively simplistic and uninteresting character that is almost exhausted after episode 10.
