However, do you really think a plot point like that would be introduced, then completely dropped without anything happening with it?

His powers are regularly referenced to be corrupting any time he uses them, and it'd be shitty writing if that wasn't meant to be taken seriously along with everything else.

Also, do you guys think the witch's scent might be stronger now? Since he now holds 3 authorities instead of just RbD, which was enough to make Rem go nuts. Maybe once she wakes up she immediately goes nuts at his scent. Just a thought.

That's how it seems. Though it apparently he finds it easier and easier for to use the powers every time, something that worries him greatly. I think they also get stronger.

Personally, I suspect the reason why his Authorities are so weak right now is because he's only absorbed scraps of what the original Bishops had. However, the power is usually described in terms which make it sound alive and hungry, like something which feeds on the host to grow.

In short, the greater his power grows, the more of him it's consumed.
