So far the best thing they've made was the original LWA short. The second short and the series have been good, but they fall short of the original. KLK has parts that surpass both LWA and Luluco, but the middle of it drags it down so much that it doesn't quite compare. If we're judging based on complete works I might have to give it to Luluco for consistency. I don't know about Inferno Cop, I don't watch meme shows.

Do people think that NGE had no deeper meaning? It obviously did. Anno had an impact on Gainax, and TTGL had a lot of similar depth to NGE though it wasn't as obvious. When that sect of Gainax split off to make Trigger they took that depth with them, but really emphasized on being over-the-top and it has really set them apart from many other studios. KLK, whether you like it or not, has a lot of symbolism regarding social oppression. It may be difficult to stomach at times on the surface, and that is the reason for most of the shit it gets, but deep down KLK holds it own to the Gainax classics. Trigger takes risks they can't make everything like KLK, Luluco and Inferno Cop, so they made Kiznaiver, which was objectively a weak series compared to their other work, not as original, but they wanted to experiment a little. Its taking these risks that are the mark of a truly great studio. Anime is truly stagnating because people who are not artists are dictating what a safe bet is for guaranteed viewership. LWA is another gamble, the original OVA was great in its own right but taking it and making 24 episodes is a risk. In the end I dont think Trigger has made its best work yet, but its all at least decent.
