How do you feel about this mango and Inio Asano in general?

Inio Asano's stories always make me feel sad.

I think his problem is that he can't find a good balance. It either doesn't go far enough like Solanin or he goes way overboard with contrived tragic bullshit like the last arc of Punpun or Girl on the Shore.
It's a shame because I do like his style and characters, but his overarching plots are usually pretty wonky.

Read Nijigahara Holograph. It has a very tightly woven plot, and it doesn't stray into suffering porn.
