Coming from someone who only watched the show; is there something more interesting about akame in the source material? because in the show, she's literally the least characterized one of them all. child soldiers backstory and muh evil imouto plot which I've seen plenty of similar elsewhere except this one seem to put less personality in the involved characters than any before. Maybe this is more fleshed out in the manga or ln or whatever; but does she even have a personality?

I mean I get that she's a rei clone, and I don't particularly hate rei clones, but if they never actually show any 'character' or 'come out of their shells', then they're like not even rei clones/kuu/danderes and just completely flat characters; robots if you will.

I don't particularly hate the show like some people, I found it reasonably entertaining, I just thought it was strange that the titular character had less personality or involvement with the plot than anyone else. (is this an anime only thing? maybe akame's super interesting in the ln/manga/whatever; I don't fuckin know)
