I'm rewatching it because my girlfriend wanted to watch it desu. I actually really like the first 70 episodes so far, but the pacing is as fucked as i remember. That's just a weekly Shonen issue though. Like I don't remember Hakus lines from the first 15 episodes of Naruto being important to him 80 episodes later when he's taking on Gaara.
