HaCha isn't cuckoldry. It's emotional drama. The main difference is that cuckoldry involves some sort of commitment and betrayal as a result. Drama involving a group of people (especially teenagers) sorting out their emotions and gaining interest in one another is just typical emotional drama. It sounds like you fell into some NTRfag's fetish sensationalism, where they try to turn every relationship into some sort of sexual fantasy. Using words like cuck or NTR is going to get you labeled as a fetishist, because that's what they mean. There is no non-fetish cuckspeak.

And yeah, Happiness Charge was good for giving the characters some emotional drama to sort through. I especially liked how they addressed Hime's obsession over Seiji, noting that not every instance of interest in a person is TRUE LOVU.

Although while I actually like HaCha for different reasons, giving the characters the time to sort out their own emotions and not just be flat personalities did help improve the season.

Eh. Relationships need to be both ways to really work, and you can't really say "Well you really should develop feelings for this guy because he likes you." That isn't how it works.

Although really, that wasn't even the real situation. They never had feelings for each other, until Seiji suddenly started. And Megumi didn't, at least not at the same time, which stuck them in an awkward relationship. And even then, it wasn't really about them: Megumi had suddenly become important in the relationship with a LOT of people, from Hime to Iona to the whole Precure thing. Seiji used to have nearly all of Megumi's attention, and suddenly he was a low priority in her life. Even ignoring his sudden attraction, Seiji needed to deal with suddenly getting marginalized and working out how he can still provide support for someone who can literally move mountains on her own.

Not so much. White knighting is championing someone you don't know, or hardly know, in order to get attention from them. Or attention from others for "defending" them. By contrast, Seiji certainly did know Megumi and certainly did have her interests at heart. And his defense of her, or really his support for her, were to allow Megumi to keep going and do things she wanted. Seiji wasn't "white knighting" just to feel good about himself for protecting someone who didn't need it.

Megumi ended up adoring Blue, probably for the same reason that Seiji started adoring Megumi. An awesome, independent, confident person doing important work who you spend a lot of time with. I'd blame Blue for letting it get that far, or manipulating things, but he wasn't exactly human and seemed oblivious to the whole situation. Hell, he'd "just" fallen out of a relationship because he didn't understand what taking an objective stance with someone close to him would do.

I wish I cared about HaCha enough to talk this much about it.

I'd say that it is likely something which developed. All of their relationship before that point involved Seiji defending Megumi, supporting Megumi, and making sure Megumi could be happy. All of the sudden it was flipped around, with Megumi defending Seiji, Megumi acting fully independent, and Megumi protecting Seiji's happiness. Seiji suddenly went from having a cute little Megumi to watch over, into having an awesome hopeful independent Megumi watching out for him. It's not unreasonable to see where his attraction started coming from.

And yeah, another part of that was Seiji suddenly spending less time with Megumi because she had a lot more of her time devoted to her new friends, Precure activities, doing new things and so on. But that was a different aspect. They aren't unrelated, since becoming a Precure is what strongly drove both aspects. But I don't think that Seiji being left behind (fairly literally) was the major factor in him developing an attraction towards Megumi.

Or, at least, I think it's a bit cynical to think that Seiji was only attracted to Megumi because he wasn't getting as much attention from her anymore - he certainly had other reasons for the attraction.

Well obviously, but Blue knew Megumi loved him and kept letting her come on to him and kept letting her clean up his messes (regarding what a shitty "god" he is) and kept allowing her to believe that there was some sort of endgame and kept hugging her romantically and etc. And then what happens once he gets back his girlfriend, at the expense of all of Megumi's hard work? He pretty much forgets about her, acts all lovey-dovey in front of her, never even thanks her for all her hard work, and then fucks off in to heaven or whatever. And Megumi's probably not even the first girl he's done this too.

The dude's a canonical sociopath. Yeah, Megumi was immature, but she's a fucking middle schooler, you need to cut her some slack. Blue knew this and he cut her no slack at all.

And I say all this as someone who normally hates shounen/harem protag-type characters (Seiji) and wants them to have misfortune at all costs. I was literally ROOTING for Megumi to successfully get together with Blue in the beginning. I was looking really hard for reasons to forgive Blue, but it seems as if the show WANTED me to hate him. He pretty much has no redeeming qualities aside from getting incredibly fucking lucky and making Megumi a cure so that she saved the world.

I am inclined to level some of those points towards the narrative. That is: there is a big focus on the narrative in HaCha about loves and mistakes. Hime falls for Seiji, needing to realize that her crush is both fleeting and a result of a particular situation. Blue falls for Mirage, needing to realize that his feelings ARE important and can't be discarded so casually.

And Megumi falls for Blue. And, given the themes in narration, I'm inclined to believe that it is intentional for the viewer (in the place of Megumi) to misread some of Blue's actions as interest, or leading her on. Really, a lot of Blue's actions were protectiveness. He's losing a lot of Cures, he's lost the most important person in his life, and he's someone saying they are concerned about his happiness. It's not surprising that Blue would step up and show concern or protection for Megumi when she needs it. But again, seeing things from Megumi's perspective, these seem like something a bit more - a desire for closeness or an extreme desire for Megumi's security.

And yes, I do agree with you. Blue was a bit of an oblivious dick and would somehow missed the signs of attraction if they hit him with a truck. To be fair, he also missed the signs of depression that led his girlfriend to be a maniac supervillain. Blue isn't the best character at reading people, which is why I'm inclined to give him some slack. He didn't stick Megumi in a position to care for him, he didn't show her many real signs of special affection (outside once or twice), and he certainly didn't lead her on. 90% of that mess was Megumi's own doing, much like the other two (and Seiji's hangups around Megumi) and so it really was Megumi's job to clean up her own problems of the heart.

Ironically, the fact that the show made you like Megumi and actually like Seiji is probably a sign that it did something right. I mean, the point wasn't to make Blue the likeable protagonist.

Kind of. Red was jealous of how much life was on Earth and so he wanted to crash his planet into it. He sent his hate to certain people on Earth to act as villains. Not exactly much of a "legitimate excuse" but I guess suicide collisions is slightly more reasonable than killing everything because it's alive.

Mirage was dumped by Blue, then more-or-less possessed by Red into believing that making everything sad would prevent love from causing misery like she experienced. Phantom was devoted to Mirage as her fairy and so wanted to do what she desired. Slightly more excusable and a better excuse.

I'd say I felt more sympathetic towards him than many of the other villains, but it was nowhere near a legitimate excuse. As far as motives for the other big bads go, I think we have:

Dark King: In his nature, no actual reason other than that.
Goyan: Basically the equivalent of an old man yelling at the youngsters to stop messing around on his front lawn because they're too noisy. He just wanted some peace and quiet. I can relate.
Despariah: She just wanted immortality. Pretty boring.
The Director: Some love problems with Flora. I can't even remember most of it, but it was probably stupid.
Moebius: Just wants to rule everything.
Dune: Not much is given in the anime, but I heard in the novels they go more into his motives. Something to do with his father and making a deal with Satan. I should probably look more into this.
Noise: Probably one of the more sympathetic villains. Everyone hates him, but he just wants to be loved and needs a hug.
Pierrot: Just wants to destroy everything. Boring.
Proto Jikochu: Just wants to destroy/take over everything. Boring again.
Dyspear: It's kind of in her nature, being despair itself and all.
Desumast: I haven't finished Maho, but if I had to guess it's another "in their nature" type of one.

So yeah, I guess I'd say Red and probably Noise are the two most sympathetic main villains we've had.

You really cannot compare Milk with what's her name because Milk firstly was an established character from the first season, secondly had a whole different dynamic with everyone, thirdly was a theoretical plot black hole like what's her name also is.

Also, the biggest red flag: This girl has such a special snowflake design it hurts the eyes. All other sixths had designs that were slightly different to the main team but still had some sort of similarity. You put this girl alongside the other Kiras and you cannot tell they are of the same team. I can't even tell at. If your sixth cannot be recognized as a member of the team design-wise at one glance then something went wrong.

I really like all of the girls in KiraKira so far. Aoi/Gelato's design is probably my favourite though. It's funny, I've never liked a tomboy cure this much before, but it might be because she's into singing and not a sport.

Also her transformation is flawless.

Do you think Cure Whip will become as badass as Cure Flora? I think it'll be more of a team thing in the finale but I'm curious as to what others think.

I watched the first cour of Max Heart and this is some strange shit.
It doesn't look like FW, it doesn't look like the rest of Precure and it's fucking slow.
Honoka has even less focus and Hikari doesn't feel quite like a character, but she rather feels like blob of kindness without anything else in the mix.
Opening is worse than in FW, ending looks lazy and is worse than in FW, henshin is worse than in FW, outfits are worse than in FW, Marble Screw is worse than in FW.
Villians seem more interesting though.
I hope it will get better in the second cour.

The villains in the first half of FW at least almost had some semblance of character depth, kind of.

The villains in MH have absolutely fuckall going for them, I really don't see how you may find them more interesting.

Hikari starts as nothing on purpose and grows over the story. But it is slow, and Nagisa and Honoka care as little about the plot (gathering those fairy things) as Mirai did (also gathering those fairy things).
