Speaking of Macross, I watched Macross Plus a few days ago and regretted it almost immediately. Boring as shit, story sucks dicks and I didn't give a fuck about the characters. Pretty much only watched it because of Information High and surprise, that was the best part of the movie.

I remember this particular one I couldn't finish: it was something like a Ninja Scroll copycat with shit animation and far more gore, much more gore. 0 story at that, it was like they just made an animation for the sake of animating (poorly) ridiculous amounts of very graphic violence. As traditional for a lot of the media of that time, I think it was meant as the pilot/first episode of a show that was never produced.

I also remember this other one, interesting premise: basically mankind's last hope against some alien things are this super advanced robots that can only be used by super selected "perfect" individuals after years of training. Everything was in space, I don't think anything happened in Earth or if Earth was even a thing. The problem with the show was that it was kinda slow, only for the last (2?) episode (s?) of its only season skip what could have been an entire season of content. From what I read at the time it was all that was produced, no idea what happened, though. Why produce a show only to do that? To give you an example, it was like watching the original Dragonball following the same pacing until Goku starts his training with Kame-Sennin only to jump in the last episode to the beginning of the last tourney with kid Goku and leave it at that.

Someone mentioned DearS, while I don't think it was that terrible, it was just as bland as it can possibly get in a genre of generic everything.

For me Zero no Tsukaima was pretty shitty.

There was a harem show that I remember dropping only an episode or two in at a time when I actually enjoyed harem shows, but I can't remember what it was called. Nasegarou Arintou... Na... Aurin... All I remember is that there was an island with really phallic mushrooms, and the first episode involved an octopus and a whirlpool or something similar. I remember it having the kind of fanservice where they try way too hard to play it off as a joke, which just makes it neither funny or sexy.

There were also a couple of shows that I acknowledged as being shit, but still enjoyed: Dragon Crisis and Seisen Cerberus.

Bloodivores is all kinds of special.

So, let's take a fun spin on a survival island scenario; absolutely everyone is vampires, and they've got military-grade weapons at their disposal. Sound like it has potential? Now, there's blue dragon-like monsters that eat vampires on this island (or city, some dumb shit) that are 100% immune to bullets and explosions, rendering the mentioned weapons useless. Killing each other will detonate collars on their own necks, and nobody wants to die. Still with me here?

Now the MC can manipulate his own gravity, as well as anyone he is currently in contact with. He can cling to a wall like Spiderman, and he can make others experience it. The main villain has enough physical strength to kill the monsters in one punch, and is immune to the collar's kill switch; it won't blow his head up. MC is looking for a way out, villain is looking for a way out. Both have the same goal; put an end to a corrupt government that put them in that hellish location. They work together only one time, but otherwise they practically never meet nor interact. Oh, and MC is friends with a handsome man who can make katanas spawn from his body, and this katana guy is deathly afraid of women. Said katana guy is also the main antagonist because he goes berserk for absolutely no reason at all.

If you're still reading this shit, here's the kicker; they meet a girl who can only say one syllable (Na, I think?), and she's about to die because the collars, forgotten until now, have a countdown timer; you NEED to kill dragons to stay alive, and she hasn't killed one. She's got the mental capacity of a housecat, to boot. During the whole katana guy going berserk, she has to use a TNT plunger to blow up a building full of monsters. MC set this TNT after subduing Katana guy. TNT plan fails, a bigass monster shows up, the original villain one-shots it, and a woman made of crystal comes out. Then it just ends.

Re:Zero was undeniably the worst show I've ever seen. It's all down to the main character. Sudoku was the most idiotic fucking main character I've ever seen. He takes way too long to figure out his ability then does everything in his power to fail at everything he's supposed to do. They also tried to so some weird queen-choosing political plotline that was present for one episode then gone, and involved a character there should have been more of, but was only in the first couple episodes and that shitty one episode. The only salvation was Felis, and I only liked him because he was cute.

Not the most awful by any means, but definitely the most disappointing. Started out so well (amazing atmospheres, well-written character relationships, etc) and then they just throw it all out the window in the last few eps with some lame twists and uncomfortable happy-go-lucky bullcrap. Kayo never should have moved on. Muh realism aside, it's insanely bad writing and completely comes out nowhere. The fact that it wasn't even portrayed as sad made me so uncomfortable I wanted to go punch something. Still salty.

There's plenty of ways they could have done it well though. Either add some sad undertones or simply don't build up a well-established relationship between them in the first place. The show threw away a perfectly well-written relationship and tried to force the audience to unwillingly feel good about it. Obviously sad plot points should be embraced, not ignored.

I understand what he's asking, I just don't think the idea is valid to me - at least because I can't come up with anything. I'm looking through my list of completed anime and I can't really come up with any anime widely regarded as "bad" that I didn't regret watching overall.

I could say, like, I enjoyed watching the first two (or was it three?) episodes of Diabolik Lovers when everyone was being an extraordinary bully to the protagonist, but that's not because it was "bad" but because the things they were saying and doing were so outlandish.
