There's been a rule of the fruits of the Strawhats that their devil fruits have been symbols or katakana (kanji? I don't fucking knowa) stand-ins for numbers, like Go.Mu being 5.6. or Hi.To. being 1.10. It's some Japanese language rule, I don't really get it, but these numbers have had story-based significance, such as the number of people that became part of Luffy's 'fleet' (5600) and so on.

So far, the numbers of the devil fruits have had 1,3,4,5,6,7,8,and10 claimed by Robin, Luffy, Chopper and Brook in particular order, leaving 2 and 9 (or really 0 and any larger number) as the only ones remaining, hinting that a devil fruit user is going to join, especially when pointing out the only person at the time that fit as maybe joining (Kuma).

Since that particular SBS, there's been one other fruit that fit the pattern, The Yuki Yuki fruit. And that belongs to Monet. So a lot of people have speculated that her supposed death was built to introduce the fruit to the readers, and have it as an 'anybody's game' devil fruit choice and confirmation implicitly of their standing as a Strawhat. There was speculation that her fruit would show up on the Orange trees and become a sort of Chekov's gun. Except after all these arcs, and an arc where they all were starving to death on a boat, the fact that no one might have noticed the fruit amongst a tree of scurvy-preventing food seems unlikely. There was also speculation Carrot ate it in secret, but after that bath scene, if she didn't notice herself partly weaker from being under the water like Kalifa, we can probably assume that hasn't happened.

It's mostly just to discredit a strong case of Monet for Nakama. They said the same thing for Nami eating the fruit as a 'weather' power, despite it clashing with her multi-climate Climatact arsenal.

Honestly, out of all the characters introduced in the New World the only one I can imagine ever joining the crew is Kinemon.

His devil fruit is convenient, especially for Oda's love of giving the cast wacky new outfits every arc. Although he's a sword fighter he's got his own spin on it compared to Brook and Zoro, and forms a three musketeers team with them. His design clearly has some thought put into it, looking nothing like the other male characters, and his body type would help balance out Brook in crowd shots the same way Jinbe will probably balance out Franky. He's traveled with them for quite a while by now, was a pretty major character in Punk Hazard, and isn't as inherently tied to Wano Country as Momonosuke is. His personality jives with the crew well but his japanese honor, conservative views on things and unfamiliarity with other cultures still diversify him from the other characters and bring something new to the table.

Not that I do think he'll join, once the other two samurai got introduced they got shoved into their own little group and up to this point there's been no evidence that he has much of a story beyond being Momo's bodyguard. His blatant samurai influences might overlap a bit too much with Zoro too, especially post-Wano since he's guaranteed to have some character growth there, and although he's been around for a while he hasn't really bonded with the crew in the same way Vivi, Jinbe and Law have in that time, three characters who right now are Straw Hats in all but name. But he's definitely worth considering more than the likes of fucking Monet, Caesar, Pedro and Pudding.

Somehow I don't see Luffy going on super punchy on a woman, even if it is a yonkou.

This entire "poison" plan just confirms that they'll try to take her down indirectly rather than brawling with her.

Also from her perspective exchanging blows doesn't seem like the way to go, considering her power is far more useful and she can age anyone in proximity to the point of death in a second.

My guess is that there's going to be some twist with that photo that will mess everything up. Something unexpected like Caramel being Ace's mom or something weird like that which makes Luffy or someone else abort the plan.

-Oda could be Oda, and have Pudding actually kiss Sanji instead of going through all the trouble (making them married). This'll shock Big Mom and literally everyone else(At the tea party and readers).

-Luffy is going to bust into the party already Gear 4th.

-Carrot, Chopper, and many other serve literally no purpose. Mirror world support team for the entire arc.
