Wamuu is actually the only real large-ish villain I could see having redemption even after everything if he lived. Eventually respecting humans because of Joseph and Caesar and helping out when they ask. I think he's the most interesting of the Pillar Men.

I miss ripple too, but I wish they used it next to Stands. Joseph using ripple was amazing and with such a weak stand, I wanted a mix of both in his fights.
Also I wish the Stands in general had a common limiter like ripple does with breathing, or for stands to remain like some sort of psychic power analogy so Araki can introduce new concepts next to stands, like he did with Mikitaka, with his weird transformation powers and weakness to loud sounds.
Just picture a part where the main conflict is an alien invasion.
After a while Jojo just used Stand+New setting. Glad Part 7 at least introduced the Spin.

Just watched Stardust crusaders after putting jojo off for years after finishing part 2. Weird Avdol used Cross Fire Hurricane only once in the Polnareff fight

5 has a weak protagonist (who many consider to lose his protagonist spot to a prominent supporting-character) and a simplistic story, but great supporting-characters, enemies, stands and fights. Great overall, if a little samey.

6 has one of the (if not the single most) strongest protagonists in the series, along with one of the best villains and a more complex and compelling story, but less-memorable fights than 5. It's where the series starts to become more seinen than shonen and there's some awkwardness as a result, but it's great overall.

7 is near-universally acclaimed as the best completed part, and 8 is pretty good too.

How do you feel about Valentine's final battle?
I feel like it dragged a lot and I was extremely burned out by the time Gyro died.
Love Train is an ass ability in the sense that it's confusing both visually and ability wise.
Both Gyro and HP's death felt convoluted to me. The redeeming part of the battle is his final showdown with Johnny, which is definitely SBR's best moment and one of the high points of the series in general.
Still, the D4C arc that precedes it and the High Voltage arc that succeeds it were far more entertaining and compelling to read.
Overall, Love Train is probably my least favorite main villain battle.

I think it comes from the fact there was an entire Part built up with the Crusaders managing to goof off their way to Egypt so easily and then nearly half of them fall to Vanilla Ice all of a sudden. Avdol might've fucked up the near perfect pacing of DIO's world, but at least the 5 of the core Crusaders would've gotten to fight him and would probably have shown just how OP The World truly is

I'll give Diavolo one thing, he managed to get his deaths to stick at least. It's a shame he only killed the comic relief and ambushed the scrub that didn't accomplish much

Doppio is literally Diavolo as a kid and personalities split because of trauma and the new personality is meant to protect the old one.
Even if they have never actually met Doppio is dedicated to Diavolo because he protected him from that trauma and made him feel not lonely. Gave him a top tier job too. Then Diavolo left him for dead and forgot about him half a second later.

Technically DIO's would have been higher but Joseph lived.
And in the OVAs he is partially responsible for killing Avdol (he puts him in the casket in the same way he did with Nukesaku). And if I'm not mistaken, in the Drama CDs, he straight up kills everyone (Joseph clearly doesn't survive).
And he still has a higher kill count than any other villain bar Pucci because of what he pulled on Phantom Blood.

I think that's a bit off the point though. Like how death can be really sudden and cruel, even when you're going in so confidently like the crusaders were after finding the mansion. It also gave Polnareff the motivation to not run away like Joseph suggested.

And maybe unrelated but something that actually just dawned on me is that that scene was a replica of the events before Avdols first death where Polnareff runs off to find J. Geil on his own against Avdol's advice but this time they learnt from Avdols sacrifice and had Jotaro tag along with Polnareff so he doesn't need to feel as alone and helpless as he did last time, especially just coming off Avdol and Iggy's deaths. I disagree with the idea that he lost his luster but I can see where you are coming from.
In fairness, it wouldn't be possible for DIO to pull the shit he did on Phantom Blood, because Phantom Blood is solely about him and Jonathan, and Dio was always going to survive it, which made him able to have the kind of presence only Pucci would later have. If DIO had the kind of plot armor and role in Part 3 that he had in Part 1, none of the characters would stand a chance (they barely did as it was already).

Kars is one of those villains who has a ton of baggage and a ton of power but when it actually comes down to it he's not actually all that much himself.
His backstory includes the notions that he commited genocide agaisnt his own race when they tried to kill him, he exterminated most of the Ripple clan, apparently used hundreds of thousands of men, women, children and elderly in his experiments, was responsible for creating the Stone Mask which caused the events of Part 1, and was apparently much stronger than the other two Pillar Men and Santana (who had one hell of an introduction).
But when it comes down to it, he stays absent for the majority of the part, backstabs Lisa Lisa (a fairly uninteresting and dissapointing character in her own right), gets caught up in Joseph's rope tricks, becomes the Ultimate Lifeform, and then gets memed to death.

I wish he got a better part to be in. I really like him and he's a ton of fun to watch but he's generally agreed to be a dissapointment for good reasons.

Where Part 1 Dio is a great villain because of his parts brevity, Kars is the complete opposite where he had potential to be more fleshed out but suffers because the part is so short. He should have probably at least fought Caesar so Joseph would have motivation to really want to kill Kars but that takes away from Wamuu's characterisation since he's great.
Part 2 is my favourite part but it could benefit so much more from just being a bit longer.
