I hate harem genre, but if School Rumble was one, I'd probably be okay with it because Harima is the best male MC of any romcom anime.

I wouldn't be. A big part of School Rumble's appeal is that it's not as simple as a ahrem, it's an intricate shipping network full of one-sided crushes, love triangles, rectangles and other figures.

Using the word wrongly, but Harima gets "cucked". The girl of his supposed dreams latches on to a boy with absolutely no personality whatsoever.

The amazing part is he still catches the interest of two way better girls and he doesn't even notice them, but that's because he's a believable idiot, not just a completely oblivious goody two shoes who has his head stuck in his dumb hobbies or morality codes. And the circumstances for his ignorance make sense in general, especially with Eri since he believes she hates him, so he hates her back.

Man, I felt bad for him. He was a bit of a loser, but he always treated his girlfriend well.

The author did say he wanted to come back to this franchise in some form, like college years or something.

I don't know what happened between him and his editor(s) and frankly, I don't care. He was part of devising the story's end game so he still has to take responsibility for it. He has a lot to make up for it.

I don't care who he ships Harima with or if he even does. Harima can be forever alone for all I care, but that ridiculous ending has to compensated in some way. The characters were all great, and Eri is the first tsundere I ever actually enjoyed, that it almost seems like one can't just simply classify her as a mere tsundere. For a romcom character, she has a bit more intricacy than a standard tsundere type.

You can't just reduce all of that to a pile of shit pie ending.

He wanted a gag ending because he likes comedy. It backfired horribly.

Thankfully he realized his fuckup and didn't allow Natsu no Arashi to suffer the same fate. He wisely used the anime as the outlet for his humor (an entire gag episode directed by him) while giving the manga the dramatic punch it needed.
