It's a decent parody of all those Isekai shows everyone loves to hate, the MC is relatively alpha, and the jokes tend to be funny most of the time, even if you see them coming from a mile away. It's like watching Japanese IASIP seeing how four assholes screw everything up.

Humor is completely subjective, so I can't argue if you don't find it funny. All I'm saying is that show has a different tone from its comptempories and I enjoyed it's execution. It just hits a lot of the right buttons for me. Especially the voice acting. The seiyuus have been doing an amazing job with their characters. I also love how the 3 main girls also sing the EDs. And you could use your hot spring argument for literally any modern work of fiction because nothing is completely original anymore. It's all been done before. What matters is if it's being executed the right way.

And execution takes more into account than just the plot themselves, but also how the plot is animated and how the seiyuus do their part. It's like having 2 students taking the same test where one student gets an A while the other gets a C. The conditions may be the same, but how those conditions are met changes the result.

Konosuba's plot and setting may be run of the mill nowadays, but the work that's been put into it produced a different result than most show of its kind.

All the characters are good, but Kazuma is legitimately a well written character especially in the context of this last decade.

Like if you compare him to a non-parody version of Konosuba, his character would likely be a beta who is constantly failing & having himself saved by the female cast. He'd likely be oblivious to female advances, and when would probably be portrayed as a failure who can't get it right (until the last episode of course because of the power of frandship).

Kazuma goes against all those tropes, and you get reminded of that in almost every episode:
>Clearly not the strongest character, but manages to save the other cast when he has too.
>When it comes to step up & not be a failure, he steps up & isn't a failure.
>Is around pretty women, doesn't pussyfoot & has obvious interest in them.
>Calls out the female cast for being retarded, even if it hurts their feelings.

And most importantly he does all this while not being very graceful, which is actually to his benefit because it makes him seem more human.

Kazuma is probably one of the most human characters in anime I've seen in a long time. And once again, especially in the context of this last decade where we've had a constant stream of betas who somehow have a harem, or unrealistic asexual Gary Stus who are the best for no other reason than because they are (*pic related*).

I finished the S1 just now and I don't see it. Not that it's bad, it's just ok. Is S2 where it's supposed to get good?
