12 until new episode
No manga this week but feel free to discuss whatever you want
Even worse here.
Tae has probably changed the most because of Sorachi's art style.
Basically the same reactions.
Some afraid, some optimism for the director and actors and the same jokes about Kondou actor resembling a Gorilla.
Who doesn't love Kana Hashimoto?
Almost two hours actually
Next week maybe I just wait until subs then
Shinpachi a best brother
And next week
Subs any second now!
>40 episodes ago
Yeah, the soul swap was pretty fucking hilarious, i'll give you that, but overall this is pretty shit-tier taste desu.
Stop buying into memes like some mindless crab trying to pull everyone else down into the bushel, and maybe you'll grow some chest hair.
For me it was when the show went from pretty meh to one of my favourites.
Who knows when they're back and the whole series is not gonna run for too long now, so.
Jeez, scared me for a second.
As long one of them isn't terminal or they're breaking up because of some major conflict it should be alright. Probably just need a break after 10 years of constantly working together, as long as they're leaving the door open on a reunion it's fine.
Animation was really let down but we already know these guys can animate very well, so I guess they run out of budget. Still, good episode anyway.
Thanks for reminding me this gem
Serious arcs one after the other doesn't leave enough time/budget to focus on a few specific battles. Also, considering Gintama's sales, I guess they wouldn't make a profit if they went higher budget.
I'm actually scared about the last arc animation since its the most chaotic and craziest yet to come. Sure as hell current budget won't make justice for the last arc.
Most animation directors change too. Not related to animation, but even the main anime writer changed too. So, no, it's not the same staff from the original anime even though last season they were pretending they were with a couple of their jokes.
>those SAC references
This one is pretty underrated and haves some GOAT arcs under it's wing
And this just kills me in the feels department
I'm sure Shouyou sensei last moments wil have maximum feels. Especially if they have parting conversation with Gintoki.
I hate to say it but this arc's been getting worse these last few episodes.
The arc started slow, then we had some amazing moments like "Katsura janai, ZURA DAAAAA", the Sakamoto stuff, Pakuyaso or whatever his name was, motherfucking Takasugi and the reunion of the four samurai. But these last three episodes didn't really impress me. The flashbacks and backstory weren't that impressive or tear-jerking to me as they were obviously trying to be, and the Umibouzo/Kamui/Gintoki/Kagura fight was a let down.
I guess I sort of look forward to knowing more about Oboro next week but this past month or so has been a dra to be honest.
Tsukuyo. Nobume and Sacchan after her.
I quite liked how he was cool and calm when he was talking to Kamui, kinda proved the point about him being stronger mentally. Was also a change from getting Sugita to speak at a fast pace before shouting.
Gintama keeps changing between the arcs. You will get comedy arcs and action arcs. But the last four arcs of the series are mainly action.
And no, none of the Yorozuya are officially paired with anyone.
You could read all of these:
Kagura's Boyfriend Arc: Chapter 419-422
Excalibur Arc: Chapter 424-429
Homeless Arc: Chapter 431-433
Idol Group Arc: Chapter 445-449
Love Potion Arc: Chapter 492-496 (if you cannot watch the two OVAs)
Guardian Spirit Arc: Chapter 499-501
Is episode 95 after the Benizamura arc? Because it continues with arcs like that throughout the series; some more serious than others while others are just outright comedy. The difference is that from the Shogun Assassination arc to this one, we've just had completely serious although there are a few comic relief moments inserted.
Theres some Kagura Okita stuff and Gin Tsukuyo stuff but none of it comes to anything.
There is plenty of ship tease to be had though, even if there is no official romance (yet)
My problem is that the action scenea aren't all that well animates ao it kind of sucka having action arcs. Unless the animation gets better later on. Also i hope romance does advance some, at least something happens with that before it ends.
> Sorachi really likes this pairing
This. Fuck fujos.
Eh problem is there is plenty of ship bait and all of the girls have huge factions of fans but the biggest faction is the fujos, huuuuuge fujo following who want Gin to be gay.
It is one of those situations where you have to tread lightly not to piss off any section of fans.
I don't think Sorachi is scared of them, otherwise he wouldn't have the ship tease with Tsukuyo in the first place.
I don't think we will have any canon pairings at the end though.
What makes it worse is that I initially tried remembering how to spell it, gave up and looked it up, then fucked up typing it.
I think one of Gintama's strengths is that because we've seen all the characters in the comedy arcs, we're attached to that side as well so it makes the more emotional scenes so much more impactful. I agree on the animation front though, hopefully they're saving the budget for some other big fights in the arc.
I still dont get it. Why isnt GinTsu popular but OkiKagu is? Fujos hate het pairings right?
> GinHiji is one of the most popular bl pairings ever
> fanservice moments (Gin grabs Tsukky' boobs, ass). Girls hate this type of humor.
> Okita and Gura = Toshi and Gin.
> Gura is daughteru.
> HijiOki was popular but now, meh.
> Okita is popular as fuck, same with Gura.
> Japan love hate/love relationships.
Dunno why some people are THAT displeased with the adaptation. Sure it's a tad slow, but it ain't bad by any means.
Do you prefer meme end or Naruto end (canon pairings at the end)?
> canon pairings
> Gintama style
Favorite OP was the 8th just because its direction reminds me of some sort of cool but cheesy 90s Video games opening
Favorite ED was the 8th
runner up is this though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwv_ERDCjDk
This week's episode just proved that no matter how Kamui says or acts, deep down he's just a normal guy who loves his imouto a lot. Can't wait to see him in the future episodes/chapters. We might get to see his overprotective brother side too.
I like that they're finally starting to kill some characters and move the plot.
Honestly Gintama has been my favorite show since I watched it start airing but after a while I just get so tired of having characters "die" a dramatic death, only to come back completely fine and become pointless again.
Watching big battles between characters is a little boring because you know that neither of them will die or any repercussions will occur. They always get saved or despite suffering from like 100 stab wounds and cuts and profuse bleeding, they still recover.
Also it's starting to wear on me the fact that the main characters can cut through steel with their swords like it's nobody's business. Also I understand why he doesn't but I would like Gintoki to adopt his old sword or something rather than swinging the bokuto around. Fighting for survival and all that jazz is a little weird with a wooden sword. Not to mention he pretty much kills them anyway, so why not just use a normal sword?
I apparently have a lot of complaints, even though I still like the show. This arc is refreshing in the sense that it seems to be actually moving the plot forward.
Start from 3rd episode and then keep going on, after the first 20 it gets interesting, and if you don't like it after the Benizakura arc, it's probably not your thing, if you want some random arc to give the show vibe, I strongly recommend the stand arc, also, MADAO best boy and Tama best girl
I agree to a certain extent about the bokuto. In a real fight, Gin wouldn't stand a chance against steel swords with a wooden one but in the context of the series I think the bokuto is supposed to represent his abandonment of the samurai lifestyle after he lost everything in the war. So I can see why Sorachi is sticking to those guns. But on the other hand, I'm pretty sure there were one or two instances where Gin picked up a real sword in the midst of battle and used that instead of the bokuto so I just don't know.
And I too am a little frustrated with the wounds-not-meaning-anything meme which by no means is unique to this series. But I do have a slight problem when Gin is consistently sliced on the same shoulder in almost every single fight and there isn't even a scar to show for it, whereas Kondo got a scar from a single wound. I also understand why Sorachi does this though, its because of Gin's clothes. A cut isn't going to show up super well on the black clad shoulder in the manga whereas its super easy to do on the shoulder with the white kimono. But still. It irritates me just slightly.
my dream ending that I think would be perfect is having a big timeskip after the end, gintoki/tsukuyo's kid meets kagura/sougo's kid and shinpachi's kid years later to start a new odd jobs, except shinpachi is forecor alone so he doesn't actually have a kid and hes jsut stuck hanging around 2 offspring of people who actually got laid.
Basically what im saying is, the series must end on a joke at the expense of shinpachi.
Best brother and sister?
> Shinpachi - Tae
> Kamui - Gura
> Okira - Mitsuba
If anything, he haves enough of choices, he also becomes a suave but edgy motherfucker 5 years from now
Sho-chan and his sister ;_;
Why does Shinpachi always gets bullied?
But even though I want him to get together with Otsuu chan or the glasses girl, it'd be funny if this were to happen. Also, Gin already got laid since long ago.
yeah its implied Gin got some pussy at some point
I doubt we'll ever get a name unless they turn it into a tragic love story bullshit which would make sense
Though I can see him doing a hilarious Kenshin parody with it
Well, because he's somewhat a good guy in the first place. He's just loyal to Shoyo even though the Shoyo in front of him isn't the same Shoyo he knew before. He said that he did want to be a part of the 4 (Gin and co) of them back when Shoyo was teaching children.
Didn't he fucked that green haired girl in the proto Yorozuya? and then fucked her and the brothars because they tried to fuck him over?
Want to get sure? Read the manga.
If anything, after this episode I see him more as a father figure than anything
Fate reference of Gintoki tracing caladabog and shooting Hedoro from miles away when?
Tsukuyo was late comer to the series and only has ship tease with the main character, who is paired with everyone and is already part of the most popular ship in the fandom.
Japan also loves shipping rivals together, because of the love/hate relationship. That's probably one of the reasons why Okikagu is also popular with fujos.
If he wants to commit suicide, that is. Only Kouka can live there because of the fact that the planet's altana keeps her alive. Umibouzo made it pretty clear that there's nothing to eat in that planet and even the water is rotten/toxic. Both knew that the planet isn't suitable for raising a family.
Only recently started watching the show myself, and caught up just when this new season started. The first two episodes are literal filler with the cast members going nuts about the fact that they're animated (kinda goes with the show's style), and the first season can be a bit meh for the most part. However, it is all very important introduction and foreshadowing, and I'd be damned if the episode 25, the first ""recap"" episode, doesn't win you over. By the 2nd season and the legendary Benizakura arc, the show really starts to kick in some legit story elements and more serious arcs, but don't go in expecting a non-stop Shonen fighter show.
It seems a lot of people only care about the subpar animation and the fights in this arc.
Since when was Gintama only about the fights between people and not the characters, their interactions, their story, their realtionships and their character development ?
How kinky do you think she'll be if she finally gets together with Gintoki?
So they're still screaming at each other like retards but now with some still punches thrown in.
Oboro's death will be a total mess too. Gintama is truly shit. How could this stay in Jump for so long baffles me.
I am seriously worried about the next cour of the anime. Please don't catch up too fast BNP.
I hope they'll adapt at least 5-6 episodes then going to cliffhanger and adapt the skipped arcs for a total of 24-26 eps.
And then the rest of the Silver Soul arc could be adapted into a movie. Indeed, don't fuck up BNP
Animation wasnt bad, but it was dragging toward the end.
The fact Gintoki was basically a saiyan vs Kamui was retarded, way to nerf Kamui.
Abuto get rekt faster than Kagura and Gintoki was stupid.
The worst was Kamui berserk face not even being as good as in the manga.
>Gintoki was basically a saiyan
What? Didn't you see Gin's finger was literally twisted and his body couldn't take Kamui's attacks any longer? Had Kagura not intervene Gin would've died there. Also, literally all of them teamed up to bring Kamui down so I don't know what you meant by Kamui being nerfed. You also have to keep in consideration that there was an instance that he held back and Kagura knew that.
Explain. You sound like the same anon who kept crying about "MUH KAMUI GOT NERFED!" In the past Gintama threads.
Also during the fight, there were instances that he didn't want to kill either Kagura or Gin, even Abuto. It was somewhat more like a battle of ideals than a physical battle. Which is why Kamui kept saying that he can't keep losing to his little sister because that battle proved that Kagura is emotionally and mentally stronger than Kamui, not physical wise. And I don't know why anon suddenly compared her to Erza Scarlet because they're not similar at all. At this point, I think he's just buttblasted that his boy Kamui lost this battle.
Speaking of Kamui, his character description in the
wiki is funny as hell.
>Kamui possesses amazing natural and instinctive fighting abilities, and tremendous enhanced; physical strength, speed, durability, adaptability, auto-reflexes, agility, awareness, dexterity, flexibility, charisma, eloquence, instincts, leadership skills, endurance, memory, rapid learning capabilities, tactical analytical skills, regenerative healing capabilities, immunity, willpower, vitality, virility, longevity, and senses all of which far surpass human, and other Amanto capabilities. Kamui is among the highest elite members of the Yato, equal to (if not greater) than Housen and Umibouzu, meaning that his abilities far exceed that of an average Yato.
>His physical strength is so impressive that he can literally chop up his opponents. He can easily penetrate his opponent's body with his arm and land a finishing blow as shown with Ungyou. He managed to destroy a space ship with one kick.
>Even anesthetic drugs are barely effective against him. When Kamui was injected with a drug strong enough to even knock out an elephant during his fight with Takasugi, he was still able to fight and kill about 20 soldiers before the drug finally knocked him out.
>In a filler episode, Kamui appears to be smarter in comparison to the other Yato members, being able to memorise the multiplication table of 7. He challenged Abuto to calculate 7x6, which the latter couldn't answer.
Simply amazing, it's almost as if Kamui wrote this himself.
>Stronger than Housen right now
Housen had a much better performance in his boss fight so I cant completely buy Umibouzu's statement.
Though I can buy him being as strong or only slightly stronger, but being dragged down because of his mental state.
Please let this be, narusaku was hilarious enough but I want more.
Kagura in a wedding dress is a cover page from Kagura's Boyfriend arc. I wonder how many Okikagu fans were thiking Okita would appear in that arc.
And no Shinpachi is not the boyfriend.
I didn't. Because knowing Gorilla I thought he'd pull a different shit and he did. I also had doubts that the boy who delivered the letter was the boyfriend. Sometimes the trolling gets a bit predictable because the series does it a lot.
Kagura obviously. She's cute, funny, entertaining, badass, pukes, is pretty based, has a great personality and turns into a very attractive woman 5 years later. Gintama girls are great in general but personality and character development wise, Kagura is objectively the best.
Probably either a total complete opposite of them personality wise or they'll be the biggest and most dangerous sadists in the series
Some cut dialogue from the manga version of the Kintama arc. Hasegawa offers Tsukuyo to star in a gangbang video with the homeless.
Well can't really remember anything else, but the Jump version and volume version of Kintoki's defeat are very different.
In the original chapter that was in Jump, Kintoki vowed revenge.
In the final volume version, it was changed to imply that Kintoki had a change of heart.
The anime used the volume version, so those who had only read the scanlation of the Jump version were confused.
>Toshi x nobume
This is probably the most crack ship I've seen with her so far. Just imagine the awkwardness between these two.
Basically Itachi vs Sasuke or Irene vs Erza.
Sasuke vs Itachi made the most sense, because Sasuke trained and didnt get a powerup out of the ass.
Kamui nerfed, he didnt even show feats that put him above Housen, it was fake hype that most mangakas do these days.
No wonder the manga sells as much as FT these days.
Indeed. They are adorable.
What? Are you implying that Gin never had an actual training? You're forgetting the fact that he's in the battlefield for years and his skills is arguably as good as Jirocho's (and maybe Jirocho being a few levels better). Also, 2 Yatos already tried to take him down (Abuto's strength alone is better than Tsukuyo and the Hyakka combined) and he was already beaten up by Umibouzo beforehand. Kamui is obviously much more skilled than Kagura but that doesn't mean Kagura can't put up a good fight or can't defend herself. You're also forgetting the fact that she usually holds back from using her destructive strength because she doesn't want to lose to her Yato blood. And like I said before, none of the siblings wanted to kill each other. You're obviously missing the point of this episode, everyone of them are working together to knock some sense into Kamui's brain. And the progress actually shows throughout the fight since Kamui is seen holding back several times.
Favorite arc? Courtesan of a Nation here. Still hard to top it.
Well mainly when she's drunk. I think she'd be an M to him in the bedroom when sober though.
Boys: MADAO, Sakamoto and Zura.
Girls: Kagura, Nobume, Mutsu, Kouka.
Yoshiwara usually places second for me. It would be even better if the anime had better pacing.
Some of it dragged out and there's the beginning of one episode being interrupted by a filler segment about animes overtaking mangas.
The one thing that bugs me the most about Gintama is that EVERY SINGLE VILLAIN has to have redemption, even fucking Hosen.
It would be refreshing if we had a villain that gets defeated with no melodramatic flashbacks justyfing his trying to kill everyone.
Well if we have a villian with a dramatic backstory and such people will say what you said.
If we have a villian with no backstory and stuff then people will just call him bad written and unintersting.
Also a villian with backstory and been evil together:SadaSada. You see what people say about him and that no one is intersted in him.
Pretty much the only villain who didn't get redemption.
And yes the figurine comes with underwear apparently.
Fuck, I want them to rerelease this one
Yeah, just continue until you get to Benizakura arc and see if it's your thing. Gintama rarely gets serious but when it does, the plot is usually great (Yoshiwara in Flames, 4 Devas, Courtesan of the Nation, Shogun Assassination arc etc). And the latest episodes are more plot focused now since the series is ending.
>Shinpachi at 8th again
This shit has to be rigged.
Best girls. Tae a shit, A SHIT.
Yeah, pretty obvious that's from the Host Club arc. Host Gura and Host Okita were both featured in the Vday special as well. They'll most likely add Host Gin and Host Toshi soon.
If only the series didn't portray their relationship as more like a father-daughter or big brother-younger sister then I wouldn't mind this pair. But with the current state of things, I don't want to ruin the familial love that those three have for each other.
And as far as all the pairing goes, I think Tsukuyo is the best girl for Gintoki, Kagura with Okita, Otae with Kondo and Shinpachi with his right hand or Otsuu chan. Sakamoto/Mutsu and Ikumatsu/Zura would also be nice.
Well she got some in the manga. But I want more too.
Well we probably won't get any canon pairings at the end, but I would not mind for her to get together with him.
>Well we probably won't get any canon pairings at the end
with Gin, maybe. Because almost half of the fandom (or a bit more) is composed of GinHiji fans. I can see Otae ending up with Kondo. I don't care about Gin/Tsukuyo or who Gin ends up with but as far as I've read Sorachi himself seems to like this pairing because it gets teased as much as Okita/Kagura. I've also read somewhere in the Gintama forums that Gorilla is actually aware of the popular pairs in nip land.
Except that Otae shows that she at least acknowledges Kondo in the Farewell Shinsengumi arc though and is actually waiting for his return. Despite of how harsh she acts towards him, she knows full well that he's a good and a dependable man.
Not at all. FS arc actually made me like those two more and it shows another layer of their relationship. Kondo even got an approval from Shinpachi when he said that he doesn't need to hide anymore when Kondo goes to their house.
He still has a punchable face and his short sobstory in Rakuyo arc didn't do it for me especially when I keep remembering that this asshole is a huge part of Shigeshige's death.
That is not so likely because in Mutsu's backstory arc they mentioned that he was in some leading position of the Chidori space pirates and it was also mentioned he died without ever showing his face or anything. But still seeing him would be nice. Actually I am very curious about Mutsu's mother actually. I ber she must have been a beauty.
Is this happening to anyone else? I can't read moonrunes
I'm going to miss this series a lot when it ends
Even in the merchandise, they still won't show Kurokono's face
I love the picture they chose for Shigeshige in this poll.
Tae very much feels like the main choice for Gintoki early in the story (Since the only competition was Sacchan), but her ship tease with him has kinda faded away outside of the second movie.
This desu, before Red Spider arc the used to have some shipping moments, but that kind of got forgotten and probably was just used to set up that big ass joke and trolling from that ramen pov episode
Well she's still part of the harem if anything, but he probably just went away from the idea of her being the main choice when he made Tsukuyo a regular and a part of the harem.
>tfw gintama is my favorite anime
>tfw anime is so good i stopped myself from reading the manga to enjoy it 100%
>tfw these last 2 seasons the quality had been just going down and down
>stopped feeling hype for the fights, stopped feeling moved by the drama, stopped laughing from the jokes
>even if i go on reading the Manga it's not going to be the same
I didn't even realize it changed studios until i wondered why the quality didn't feel the same
guys can we stop making gintama threads about shipping and fav op/ed in the show replies ? can we stop the shitposting in gintama threads ? gintama threads are so pathatic ! why don't we start making gintama memes the show is so memable !
all gintamafags feel the same way anon ; ;
Kaida Yuko (Tsukuyo) "love doing it raw": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLakhysBMQc
These threads are like a doubled edged sword really.
It is either 100 posts and ded or 400-500 but about 30-50 are actuall discussion and the rest are for some reason waifufagging.
I don't know if we are just stupid funs and can't even discuss the episode or just don't want to discuss it.
I think there isn't that much left to discuss anymore maybe? Well, at least this week there was no new manga chapter to discuss, so there's that.
I actually find the Gintama threads really comfy.
