Yes, and that is entirely appropriate for something like Hakomari. It needs an off-kilter narration and visual directing stuffed with visual shorthands and somewhat blatant symbolism to properly transition to a visual medium. Yuasa's style might also be appropriate, but it's not "his" kind of story.
