Why did this become a teen drama after the time skip?

Shippuuden became a series about nothing after the timeskip. There was teen drama, but you had years between chapters that advanced it.

Naruto aged backwards as the characters became older.

While the Zabuza Arc was about child soldiers and ninjas as weapons, Shippuden was about the all important drama between two teenaged boys. Sasuke causes any international incident and we're supposed to see Sakura's fake confession as the biggest deal in the world. Also, the moral about pacifism and world peace is something a child would consider; dumb even by shonen standards.

Probably because shonen authors primarily concentrate on making the characters of a shonen apealing, unique, and interesting to sell merchandice, and do not concentrate on the plot at all, as it would confuse the target audience, making the chracters only useful for SoL, a genre that has no plot
