I like it. It's not amazing but it's been solid, except for Determination, and has been rather good for the past 2 movies. I have tempered but high hopes for Symbiosis.

Appli is underrated

Applimon has been kinda underwhelming. It's playing it a bit too safe and very clearly is aiming for a more broad appeal with children due to its more formulaic episodes. It's been getting a bit more interesting but it's pretty late in the game, even the slowest of Digimon plots didn't take this long outside of maybe 02.

Just got around watching the 4th Tri movie and it was pretty bad.
Its everything going to be resolved in the 5th movie or is Toei planning a 6th one?

So what is the general consensus when it comes to ranking the Digimon shows? I know with YGO fans it's pretty split on what the best show is but do most agree that Adventure 01 was the best or was it one of the spinoffs?

No it's generally considered that Tamers has the strongest writing. It's up for debate though and goes by tiers.
Best: Adventure, Tamers, Savers
Good: Xros, V-Tamer
Mediocre: Frontier, X evolution
Terrible: Young Hunters
Shit: 02

This is a general idea and no rating is absolute, but this is the general gist of the fanbase's opinions. Appmon and Tri aren't finished yet but I would put Tri likely to hit good and Appmon to end at mediocre.

Anything Koushiro does anytime. That little nigger carries the team on his back and doesn't even complain.

Tentamon was a pretty rock solid partner in general but Gomamon was cool too. Etemon squeezes in for the villain category.

Favorite evolution is probably Stingmon just because I liked the upgrade.

I haven't watched Tri. Waiting to see how it goes.

I didn't mind 02 when I watched it dubbed growing up. Yolei was mai waifu because christ there were like 3 girls to pick from and only one of them had glasses. Has it really been 17 years?

I was with /a/ in the old Digimon general riding on the high of Tri movie 2 closing in. Whenever I remember that he apparently started singing 7 as he died I always choke up a little.

The only thing about Tri that I like so far is the new version of Butterfly. It's been pretty shit so far, even when it comes to capitalizing on nostalgia. The lack of epic warp digivolve sequences similar to what Agumon and Garurumon originally got irks me the most.

I've enjoyed it despite the OC girl being annoying as fuck. I mostly have just taken it as a bit of a nostalgia trip with so-and-so writing and some cute scenes.
