What's your excuse? We have html5 video now, meaning it's the same damn quality as any other video format you get off the webs by torrent or dcc. Nobody is bothering with Flash.

Oh god, the artifacts and fuzzy lines.

Why do you encourage bitrate starvation?
>>
what the fuck happened to #NEWS irc, since they started to take control of the bots and the restrictions to "spam" that place is shit, useless, there are not even news anymore there :(
>>

My computer isn't even capable of 1080p, and if someone makes a youtube video in 720p that's 60fps I have to drop down to 480p to get it to work properly.
t. guy who streams all his anime
I'm not even lying either.

It's really not that big of a deal anymore. The worst part about streaming these days is that you're supporting shit companies like crunchyroll.

Don't get me wrong, streaming is objectively worse than torrenting but it's not like the early 2000s where shit was 240p and watermarked to hell and back.

Exactly.

End yourself.

Probably some really shitty 2006 laptop. I've got a crappy 2012 HP laptop that can play 1080p60 without problems.

2TB of anime is a only year of downloading everything that comes out. I'm not even a heavy archiver and I have 9 TB used up.

Nah man, one year is not 2TB, I watched 25-35 series a season in 2016 and it was just that much.
>>
>>154273997
>having 2TB of basically useless space
Let's be honest, you're not rewatching 2TB of anime any time soon
>>
>>154273997
being selective on what i download and watch. desu if i was motivated enough, i could probably just get my entire backlog downloaded over the weekend, but that involves work.
>>
>>154274184
Doesn't matter, I like having old episodes available and 2 TB is like 100 bucks these days. It's cheaper than streaming and more convinient to boot, complete with being able to watch it on a plane or something because I can copy all my shit onto externals within a hour. You can't even use the >but you have to wait for it to finish downloading argument because with internet speeds these days you can be done downloading an episode in the time it takes for you to take a piss and grab a bottle of water from the fridge.

>>154274149
Maybe it's 1 TB then, I'm assuming the 1080 BR versions.

What.
Only upside to downloading that i can see is having something to watch when the internet is down and i have a couple of my favorite titles downloaded for that reason.

Obviously streaming is not a viable option, not even mentioning PAYING for streaming.
>>
>>154274493
I'm assuming streaming is CR shilling or something. CR is like, what, 7 bucks a month or something? That would mean a 2 TB HDD is around a year's worth of subs for more content, and with the ability to use than HDD for other stuff on the side.

>only upside
You can also choose between subgroups (important for shit like GabDrop this season where CR before episode 8 was nearly unwatchable), download the BDs, and have better quality ranging from marginal to noticeable. OP's image is noticeably worse than a downloaded version of MaiDragon.
>>
>>154272379
Streaming at high quality (assuming you're watching a good encode which is not guaranteed) is pretty much literally the same thing as just downloading and deleting afterwards, especially if you automate your downloads somehow or other. So the only difference is with streaming you're supporting streaming sites and you can't archive so you can watch later even when you don't have internet access, or internet access that is too slow to stream 1080p video.
So streaming is still inferior.
>>
I love firing up individual episodes and checking out specific scenes over and over every other day too much to not save all my anime.
>>
>>154274899
We are one of soul.
>>
>>154274857
It isn't pretty much literally the same thing, it IS the same thing. When you stream something your computer downloads your file to a temporary location and deletes it afterwards, that's what the buffer means. You can watch a show that's been fully buffered even if your internet cuts because it's on your computer.
>>
>>154273377
nowhere did I say that. Did you even read?
I said my POS laptop won't even play youtube videos if they're posted in 60fps.
>>154273329
It's an old IBM from 2005 that may have or may not have come from a place I no longer work at. Honestly, I haven't replaced it, since it hasn't failed me yet.

I stream all of my anime from kissanime. I dont see a problem with streaming. There is no difference between streaming and downloading anyway, and anyone who tries to say otherwise is on the spectrum.
>>
>>154276721
In that case there is no difference between /a/ and reddit, why not post there?
>>
Is there actually a reason to stream nowadays?
I guess if you're on a trip and only have your phone or something, but even then I've just downloaded the episodes to my sd card
>>
>>154276816
Reddit looks boring.
>>
>>154276819
If I want to watch a 100+ episode series, you can bet your sweet ass I'm not downloading all that crap.
>>
>>154277360
Lol I've done just that, when I was in the army.
I guess we can't just accept any differences on this board. I know I can't
