Is it worth the watch? I do legitimately likegood isekaiand I've heard a bunch of praise about "OHH HURR DURR THEY'RE REALISTICALLY WEAK MY DUDE SO THAT MAKES IT INSTANTLY GOOD!" but is it worth it in terms of story?
Watch it and find out for yourself, numbnuts.
What makes "good isekai"?

>>154246934
Realistic characters, little to no asspulls, a nice, coherent, interesting story, stuff like that. My favorite isekai isNow and Then, Here and There
it has pretty slow pacing but I enjoyed it, whenever there's that bit of progression it makes you wanna cheer for them
Yume a shit. Mary a best.

>i have really bad depression and unless something is validated by others that i generally agree with i have really bad motivation issues in even trying it
It's the nth time I see this post.
MOOOODS
>>154247531
Not sure where else you saw it, I only posted with something similar when I asked if Bokurano was worth watching, so that would be the "nd", not the "nth" time.
>>154247583
I meant it like Nth, with the meaning "I've seen it N-1 times before".
Tell me if you like Bokurano, I'll tell you my opinion on this.
>>154247648
I think the anime has some pussy moments that they were too scared to do what the original manga did. I really like the manga though, even though it was short it did what it intended to and did it well.
>>154246934
when it's 'stranger in a strange land' not 'mmo shit slapped on fantasy'
>>154247690
Honestly I'm not sure I can recommend Grimgar. It's great almost all the way through. The ending technically gets foreshadowed, but it still feels like an asspull (and isn't satisfying). Drama may seem too forced if you don't remember shit you argued about in HS and it was too slow for many people. You just gotta risk it (or not). I loved it, but some people hated it.
>>154246826
>Is it worth the watch?
Yes, it is one of the best isekai that came out, and the style and watercolors are really nice too.
Grimgar thread?
>>154247127
Mary is a filthy traitor that badmouthed worse boy just to have Haruhiro's dick for herself.
>>154248402
This. Mary a shit.
>>154248402
>>154248451
Mary is pure!
PURE!
>>154247848
>Drama may seem too forced
About what?
They struggle to buy food and complain about it, but they also work to fix their situation.
Then there is Ranta's shitty personality, but in the anime he gets better and Haruhiro's complains about Ranta are valid. The same with Mary, she acts like a bitch at the start because her friends are dead, but she is never egdy.
>>154248334
Should I kill myself if I want to fuckRanta?
>>154248534
The conflict with Ranta. As I wrote it isn't really all that unrealistic.
>Drama may seem too forced if you don't remember shit you argued about in HS

>>154248570
You'll have to fight me for him, but if you prove worthy I might be inclined to share.
>>154248451
>>154248493
Ranta can be annoying, but fuck I don't think Mary is that stupid to don't understand why Ranta did what he did, when the ogre wanted to fuck her, but didn't because Ranta told him he wanted her for himself, THEN Ranta didn't touch her THEN he fought Haruhiro yelling his attacks.
>>154248493
Pure whore, maybe. And a party-killing murderer, a schemer, a backstabber, and she deserved to be gangraped instead of being saved by Ranta TWICE.
>>154248642
Why is he so appealing when he has such a shitty personality? Maybe it's his cute looks?
Kill yourselves rantacucks. Mary did nothing wrong.
>>154246826
Three more weeks until translation for volume 4. Maybe then we can have more threads.
>>154248596
>The conflict with Ranta
Ranta was only annoying at times, the rest of the time the series focused on Haruhiro. Only the last episodes focused on Ranta's tsundere personality.
>I-I don't care about being your friend but I almost cried when I thought I was going to die alone after I saved Haruhiro's ass.
>>154248767
Stay mad, Maryfag, she became worse girl. Yume a best.
>>154248642
>>154246934
>What makes "good isekai"?
Generally what makes isekai work is when the story is actually about something. It's the same as any story. You just need a real plot, characters etc. Something like EL Hazard or Escaflowne which actually use the characters and premise instead of just futzing about for 20 light novels of harem hijinks

It's worth watching for the background art alone. Water colored backgrounds with a complete disregard for lines. It's quite pretty. I hope somebody here has a collection, so I can make some wallpapers...
>>154250129
I regret not saving those when we had regular Grimgar threads. Maybe an anon has them and will picdump, especially since the studio that did them shut its doors.
Haruhiro should have accepted the gold coin.
>muh puraido
>>154250080

Am I the only one who is hoping for a season 2?
>>154250904
I was as well, it sold decently and it was only behind Konosuba.
But well S2 never I guess.
>>154246934
Creating a believable world with believable characters that would act realistically given the premise of the show.
Episode 7 is >>154248334
So this looks kinda pretty from the screens. Is the animation good?
>>154250965
>I was as well, it sold decently and it was only behind Konosuba.
>But well S2 never I guess.
I dunno, don't see a reason why this could not get a season 2 or a spin-off.
Maybe a fresh group of adventurers? Or maybe some high level questing after they stopped being newbs?
Why would there be no season 2?
>>154250485
No. Thus ever to Clerics.
>>154251058
The first fight with the Goblin is top tier, then it starts to descend in quality.
It always looks very pretty though.
And done.
Bonus.
>>154248687
Is the LN translated that far?
>>154250965
>>154251064
If it gets a second season, they should be adapting volume 3 and 4, where they went to war against orcs, action assured.
>>154251265
The official one's only on volume 3. You need to get to volume 8 before you get the events that led to Mary becoming a super cunt.
>>154246826
>Is it worth the watch?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gd9OhYroLN0
that link will tell you all you need to know about it.
>>154251265
No. The official translations are in 5/8 of the 3 volume. In 3 more weeks they are going to start volume 4.
>>154251286
Is it based in a LN? If so what chapters have been covered by the season 1 and how many more are left? Is it ongoing?
>>154251143
>they didn't kissu in that scene
>>154251353
Vols 1 and most of 2.
There are currently 8 so there's more than enough material. Yes it is ongoing.
>>154251334
Is there an unofficial translation that's farther? And if so where can I find it? I want to know what happensafter moguzo is kill
>>154248765
Like him or not, the rest of the party would be extremely boring if Ranta wasn't there. It's only easier to like them because Ranta's annoying shittiness juxtaposes their bland niceness.
>>154246826
The girls are hot and they awaken my mating instincts.
>>154251353
The anime adapted volume 1 and 2. The official translation cover half of volume 3. There are 9 volumes in Japan and yes, it is still ongoing.
>>154251403STW
>>154251403
There's only summaries from gensakuchuu.
>>154251403
AFAIK, the unofficial translators dropped it and pulled it off their site when it got picked up.
>>154251419
Ranta is the most interesting though. It is implied he is just tsundere and scared of letting people to know his feelings, he likes Yume, but he refuses to show his interest.
>>154251658
>>154251658
>ranta
>interesting
>show boobs
"no"
>wow why does nobody listen to me
>>154251977
>>154251977
Because he had scenes where with his actions he implies the opposite of what he usually says.
>>154252066
>>154252066
Also that little demon he can summon implies some pretty dark things about his past.
>>154252250
Like what?
>>154252250
How?
Also guys I just read the summaries and I don't see where Mary was a bitch
>>154252473
The summaries are whitewashed garbage, ignore them. The fact of the matter is that Ranta saves Mary from being trainraped twice, and the thanks he gets is Mary lying to Haruhiro, Haruhiro stabbing him in the back and leaving him for dead, and everyone in the party believing Mary's bullshit story about Ranta turning traitor to save his own skin, when the reality is that he had to put his own ass on the line to save hers because she went boo-hoo and shut down completely.
>>154252705
Why would Mary lie? Or was she just mistaken?
>>154252473
In volume 8 Ranta are Mary are captured by a group of orcs. The leader wanted to fuck Mary, but Ranta told him he wanted to join him and have Mary as his woman, so the leader let Mary alone. While Ranta didn't touch a single hair of Mary.
Then Haruhiro arrived to rescue them, he found Mary she cried, then Ranta and Haruhiro fought, he almost killed Ranta because "Ranta was fighting seriously" but also yelling his attacks. Then after Mary and Haruhiro met the rest of the party Mary told them that Ranta betrayed them. In volume 9 Ranta ditched the orcs and went to who knows where.
>>154252876
As if Ranta doesn't usually yell his attacks?
>>154253036
Ranta knows too well how Haruhiro fights and he knows Haruhiro knows his fighting style too well as well, by yelling his attacks he is letting Haruhiro predicts them and how to fight back.
>>154246826
If your into good backgrounds and a little music video at the end of every episode it's good.
Otherwise it's shit.
>>154253315
Good bait.
Was Manato a good leader?
>>154252876
What have exactly happened? Could Mary lie for the Haru's sake?
>>154253036
I think someone said that when Ranta was in a serious duel against their captors in that volume, he didn't yell out his attack names.
>>154254315
Not really, no. The parties lack of growth under his command is sign of that. I understand he doesn't want to see any one get hurt but he coddled them too much and didn't delegate thus resulting in stagnation and his own death.
What Grimgar does different from other shows in general is what I love about it, the show doesn't need any filler because sometimes they go from an action shounen episode to a slice of life episode, showing the characters say cleaning their weapons/gear, worrying about money/housing, or just shooting the shit in a bar. Its definitely a hit or miss if youre a stright action kind of person but the characters are great, the atmosphere is great, and the color/background is especially great. I REALLY REALLY like this show
>>154246826
Absolute shit, Im glad it flopped and the music CDs flopped too because that means Toho will never support another season for it.
>>154246826
Starts off alright but turns to shit once they start moping every episode about the manatee.
Gets better after they get over that, but the ending is weak shit again.
S2 never.
