Sure, CGDCT is not as strong as it used to be in 2010 or 2011 but it's still very strong, actually besides the fujo and idol trends (which is still kinda CGDCT at some point), I would stay it's still the third biggest genre right now, and the isekai trend is already dying.

It just needs another big show like K-on or Azumanga Daioh to be back on tracks.

The manabi line was never that relevant to begin with.

Manabi Straight was reported to barely break even with a bit under 3k sales. Since inflation in Japan is virtually nonexistent and there's plenty of sources saying how most productions have very similar budgets of around 2 million dollars for a 13 episode show, we can assume that's still the case even today. What those sources won't take into account is the marketing budget. If we compare something like Manabi Straight which I don't remember how big the marketing was but it must've been very low key, to something like Nichijou which Kadokawa shilled to no end, billboards, advertising and posters were everywhere even in very costly publicity spaces that late night anime usually won't touch. Kadokawa themselves confirmed Nichijou to be a complete failure even after selling a bit above 3k units (before a re-release). The show also had pretty good animation and a lot of veteran and popular voice actors as guests,specially forthe PVs.

That said, Maidragon is also a very low key show, there wasn't much publicity prior the start of this season, it only got relatively popular by word of mouth. KyoAni is also known for having cheaper budgets compared to the rest of the industry, so breaking even is probably much easier for them.
