It's one of my favorite ongoing manga right now. I really, really like it.

Translation seems to have restarted at a brisk pace too. Jaimini's just started Vol 8, and I hope they can at least catch up to the tank raws. Shit's been slowly getting more and more real by the chapter.

Why?

Around chapter 20 it felt like things were still happening purely to set the stage, so I was getting worried that there'd never be any payoff.

Now though it feels like we have some genuine developments and it's getting clear who the antagonists are going to be, so I'm really enjoying it.

Also this manga does EDGE panels so well. Normally I'd consider it overdone by now but for some reason I could read "Takayama makes a threatening face" chapters forever. The simple lighting tricks just go really well with the character designs.

I wouldn't be so sure there'll even be a final boss in the traditional sense. I mean, Kekkaishi ended with the closest thing to a final boss and another villain killing each other off, while the main cast sealed Karasumori instead, and with how many factions there are in this, I wouldn't be surprised if we reach some similarly unorthodox finale. It's way too early to really say, of course, I'm just speculating.

I think he meant it wasn't the correct time for the birdmen species to reveal themselves to the world because they had too many enemies. They didn't have enough support, they didn't have cohesive plan and there's no way it was going to work. It was odd that Takayama said that line while making a scary face but now I realize he was thinking/saying "you guys are all gonna die".

Given the Christian terms they've been throwing out, wouldn't the closest event to the matter be the "Judgement Day"? Like with the seraphs judging the human race once and for all?

But Fox gave that whole bit about how the reason a linker was valuable was because it could prevent the seraph from growing too psychologically detached from humans, since it allowed them to communicate. Plus there's MC's thoughts about how people will "misunderstand" Takayama's intentions. And based on what some rawfags said, Robin survived and wants to kill the humans now, so that and E III probably fill the outright-domination advocate role. If anything, at the most extreme, Takayama might decide that everyone should become seraph or something. I don't see him going full extermination.

The "time" thing seems to just be about the right time to come out of hiding, like the Eden-head-guy also mentioned. I'm not sure what exactly Takayama's thinking / hoping for when that happens, though, and I'm not sure he is, either - he probably has some mixed thoughts on it since he evaded when MC asked him about it, and based on his interaction with Fairy ("If you're not the enemy, what should I do?"), he seems pretty confused himself. Maybe Eva told him something?
