The mangaka has talent but his compositions suck.

What is supposed to be an exciting moment for the MC is depicted very poorly. Without any context, it looks like the MC made a mistake. In other series such a moment would be clearly shown as a moment of triumph/euphoria/joy/awe.

Jump is really ax-happy nowadays because they've lost so many long-running hit series, so they're desperate to get replacements. Anything that doesn't pick up steam fast is getting canned within 12 or 20 chaps.

Read any first work, 95% of them will NOT have perfect art, either characters will go off model or maybe they won't emote like they should, the panels could not be perfect either .


Mangaka usually get used to the series after a year and they begin to really improve their art after 2. Of course there are cases where the art goes down eventually if they get serialized for 10 years ever week but yeah

I hope his experience with JUMP didn't kill his enthusiasm. I'm not a soccer fan in the slightest but his passion for the sport was infectious. Try again, man! Even if he doesn't get published in JUMP again, just having gotten his foot in the door there will open up a lot of opportunities (I hope).
