Yen Press takes in shitloads of projects as a cash grab after the anime comes out and then assigns their freelancers to them.

Their A-list series like S&W and Raildex get decent translators, but everything else gets people who don't care about the work and turn in such gems as translating "lamprey" as "rabbit" and so on. NGNL is the most egregious example.

I really hate that no matter what, TL-kun's version of events and characters will always be firstly ingrained into my mind. At times I had to go through 2 threads over post cap and read everything just so that I could be up to date on the current thread.

He only expressed wonder why the TL is so different from nip analyses, and keep asking if there are different versions of the book. Now we all know yeah TL-kun wrote his own book...

We've fallen into two different traps as well

Firstly, the threads rarely have new blood Look at this thread for example, just 30 IPs. The majority of people who browse these threads are regulars who spend their time here 24/7. There's rarely any new blood, if any at all.

And secondly, fanfic or not, we've all read everything so far that has been translated. Furthermore, we've discussed it endlessly before the translations were out, when the translation was coming out chapter by chapter and when the translation of a volume was finished. Speculation is dead until we a new volume gets announced and there's so much we can discuss a topic until running it to the ground.

So, while I'm not gonna say the current situation has hit us hard, but we've also fallen into the usual lull that hits all threads of any topic when they don't have new material to discuss which would have hit us sooner or later no matter how accurate the translations would have been.

So it all cycles back to the re-translations and how they would re-vitalize the threads

It solves the fanfic issue, there's an alternative to them so people will be happier and in a better mood and it solves the no discussion issue, as the re-translations will have new previously omitted information there will be new topics to discuss including the obligatory comparison to the previous translations.

We've had people check random QUEENS excerpts of the latest chapters and they are still lacking in quality. And this is stuff that got translated after the shitstorm was discovered, TL-kun "apologized" and started doing V2s and also supposedly got some Japanese friends to help him translate.

The only way I could ever put faith in TL-Kun again is if he did a complete overhaul of the current translations and posted raws to accompany them so everyone can check it's accuracy.

I like this Mary more than the anime look.

It would be better if he would just upload all the raws he has and changes to raw-kun.

I'm not sure anyone would trust his translation fully again. Imagine reading every sentences and question its accuracy anytime the translation is posted. I don't think TL-kun could handle having at least 1 or 2 people constantly reminding him of his mistakes or demanding him to rpove whether a particular detail is true or not.
