Depends how you mean - the one that most completely failed to meet expectations, or the one that came the closest to living up to them and thus hurt the most when it fucked up? The former would be Eden of the East, which sounded so promising and had a good first episode but then sucked all-around straight through the end with basically no redeeming features - it was just a terrible show that I was once interested in. The latter would be Xam'd, which was fucking great for the first half or more, and then fucked up hard in the last ~third (but you could still see how that part could have been great if done properly) - I don't even know how I'd judge it overall, but it sure as fuck should have been much better, and it makes me sad.

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. The first few episodes were pretty amazing and then I couldn't even finish it because it turned to shit really fast. Never seen a show go downhill so quickly from 10/10 to cringe fest. Also last few episodes of Flip Flappers, extremely disappointing.

I didn't go into it expecting F/Z, and the mid series definitely slowed down in a major way, but I felt the conclusion of the initially established arcs was redeeming enough to make the series worthwhile. I was really close to dropping it for a couple episodes though.

But the heart of jupiter was the most boring, stupid and uninspired way to end your story; it was so awful the only thing people remember was Chihiro winning and people who are mad or glad she won. While Claymore left me wanting more, i think it was quite satisfying. I read the manga afterwards and it kinda got out of hand in my opinion - just too over the top. The show was perfect the way it was, it's only flaw being the rushed ending and perma-cliffhanger. That said, it's still on of my favorite shows and i don't think any other show has such a unique atmosphere and character design. It's extremely memorable

But there is no way this is the most disappointing anime ever - there are so many shittier shows that actually ended and that were so badly written from start to finish

I watched Ben-To because I wanted to see people fight over bento.

Instead three quarters of the show was a mediocre ecchi comedy about some guy with a Sega Saturn that was trying as hard as it could to avoid being about fighting over bento, and it thought that calling the MC a pervert was the most hilarious joke in the world that would never ever get old.

And then there was the ending plot. "These two are such huge unfun assholes that they completely ruined the competition so hard that we had to stop entirely to get them to fuck off, but they were sad that we did that so we should suddenly decide that they aren't the villains anymore".

Ignoring the busted morality of the finale and stuff like the MC's rival getting barely any screentime, it was a massive letdown.

Horror-Mystery is my favourite genre in Movies, but i never thought about watching it as Anime.
When i saw this show (very high rated for some reason) and saw the beginning of the first episode i was totally hyped.
Too bad mediocre at best in all aspects and the "mystery" was basically just people keeping important information from the protagonist for no reason.
The entire plot would be solved in under 2 episodes if people didn't keep information from him, they wanted him to know, he needed to know and they told him later anyway.
At least the climax in this burnign house was hilarious.
Thought me to stop running, if i get a phonecall in a burning collapsing building with lightning strikes every few seconds and people intending to kill me a few steps behind me.

Gilgamesh has a first episode with fantastic atmosphere that sets up an interesting setting and potentially really good horror.

And then it proceeds to do absolutely nothing with it. Instead of doing something with the post-apocalyptic world, they immediately dump the protagonists in a location where the fact that the apocalypse happened and modern technology no longer works is utterly irrelevant and it barely remembers it as the show goes on.

Complete waste of a great setting and aesthetic, ignoring the ugly character designs.

The issue with this was that around the two-thirds mark they should have closed out childhood friend's arc and made Nakiami the love interest and had MC keep traveling with her, but instead they made childhood friend the love interest and bent their whole story over backwards to accommodate that romance. Thus we got a bunch of irrelevant subplots that didn't fit together and a rushed climax that made no sense, plus broken character dynamics. I can't really bring myself to hate it overall, though, because like you guys said, it was so good until then. If I won the lottery I'd probably hire the same staff to do a recut to my own specifications.

Bleach.

The first part of Bleach was awesome.

I was loving it. Rukia was rescued. They should have ended it there. But they didn't...

Then it went into a death spiral and I found I could no longer watch it or even read the manga.

There are other anime that was worse but none had that incredible beginning that made you care about them and then the writing just turned to shit and you felt like you wished you never read or watched any of it.

Then the stuff with the full bring happened and we all saw that the "MAKE STUFF BIGGER AND MORE EXPLODEY" forced path of shounen wasn't for him and he long ago reached the point where he couldn't conceptualize the level of power or strange metaphysical and pseudo logic needed to keep that kind of thing going.
Really should have sat down and expanded on the world with some other people so that he had more places to go other then MAKE IT BIGGER.
An adventure story where he had infintite cast of characters and could use unique situations and people rather then power levels to tell stories.

I wasn't expecting a 10/10 but holy shit this shit went south after 8 or so episodes. At some point Marlene barely says anything other than 'YUJI!!!!!!' while the latter becomes 'muh hardcore soldier'. Subplots are brought up then disappear faster than a nigger who finds out the baby is his.

I have a lot of anime on backlog but this has seriously been putting me off starting a new series for 3 or 4 months now.

I know I have no one to blame, but me. Still, it kinda hurts.

When I watched >pic related, I was excited to see an anime about semi-realistic fights, hard beatings included. Something vaguely similar to Katanagatari or Kenichi.

Instead, the very next scene and the MC had a band-aid and completely healed, and by the end of the episode we were back to regular power flinging episodes, with generic plot and harem shit.

I fucking hate this show with a passion...

Kids on the slope and Zankyou no Terror. Arguably 3gatsu no lion.

-KOTS was just boring and not music focused enough for what it was. The romance was shitty and boring. It's strongest point was it's art/animation.

-ZNT everyone knows this, first episode was fucking great, god tier OST, show was shit

Rei is a boring protagonist as of now (only on ep 12) and he FINALLY had his first interesting moment in breaking down and crying at the end of the last episode recognizing how he has absolutely nothing but shogi and how he'll do anything to win because he needs it. That being said H&C side/non main characters were fucking great, and they aren't played on enough in 3gatsu. Nikaido is great and very H&C vibe to me, but the sister trio is kind of boring and one dimensional/not utilized enough.

Actually, I'll stick with OG Clare. Clare could shadow herself to some extent towards the end. Even miria admitted it. And her multiple abilities makes her a vanguard of the entire task force as far as strength is concerned, the only difference is Mirias shadow step and Mirias shadow step is she expends energy to do it which gives it a distinct visual style and makes it hard for awakened or tracker claymore to pinpoint her exact location immediately after the skill occurs. Clares is a bit slower, but it's still fast. Read the wiki on it.

I expected a bad to mediocre digimon season i could maybe like with nostalgia googles.
Later Digimon season were pretty shit but i somewhat liked them just because i knew some of the mons.
This thing just doesn't feel like Digimon at all.
The whole show seems to think they have to do character developement instead of action to make up with the grown up audience, but the little actual developement is mostly retelling of the arcs that already happened or just very uninteresting.
The new movie was almost 1/4 just them having a picknick and talking about food for a little.
The few action that happens is really unsatisfying and sometimes throws out stuff that every fan would expect.
For exemple Machinedramon, he was actually a decent villian with his strategy based fighting style, especially since he doesn't evn have much screentime.
When he appeared here, he just was an evil guy without any special skill, not even a line of dialogue.
I'd totally be happy with just a bad stupid digimon movie, but not with this.

Danganronpa anime, I wanted too see how the good guys fell from hope to despair, what kind of events changed them so much as to commit mass murder, necrophilia, torture, etc.

Instead we got that they were mind controlled to commit those act, killing the premise of the series about the eternal fight between hope and despair.

To this day I dont understand why mind control, I mean one of the game main points was that talent wasn't everything in the world:

For me it was probably Sword Art Online. To some people it might be a pretty obvious/mundane answer, but I have a pretty good reason for feeling this way.

For one, I had a bunch of friends hyping me up for this. Kept saying it was great and gripping, all of that. Second, I still honestly believe that the first 3 episodes of SAO are great. Still isn't perfect but you'd be well forgiven for thinking the rest of the anime wouldn't suck.
