Well, that's the thing, May next year is the end of Schrodinger period of "there's rumors of S2 being made" and "maybe".
If the movies are successful there's higher chance of S2 actually being a reality.

If the sale is good, there won't be S2.

Even you know the BR and other merchandise will sell may be you just don't want to invest more money on it and make profit only with the sales.

But ads cost money, specially anime adaptation kind of ad, its like a big campaign for any other product, the company won't always be doing big campaign, it will do one for the presentation of the product and may be another one if the things go downhill.
