Was the timeskip a mistake so they reverted it back?

The time skip kinda wasted all the character and story development that was built up.

I don't know that its wasted. The timeskip sets up a whole new dynamic between Sayo and Rio (with Suzune thrown into the mix) rather than Sayo and Konomi, just as the latter seemed to be reaching some sort of resolution. A resolution you shouldn't want if the hijinks are to continue.

Really wanted to see time skipped Sayo.
