Urara or maid dragon. I was expecting Lwa to take it easily but the show is kind of humdrum when you look through all the hype. LSA can eventually get somewhere but it is going to have to work for it instead of just tread water like it has been doing.

Gabriel Dropout is pretty OK, I like watching it and sometimes have bursts of actually really liking it, but as a whole it isn't super stellar either; I don't see myself caring for it for long after it's done airing.

So what I'm saying here is regardless of how fun I find something (I enjoy the dank memes and community watching experience), I'm not going to try and push it around as the best if I can't justify it.

Best anime this season is definitely Sangatsu no lion cour 2, followed by Rakugo season 2.

After those two comes Youjo Senki, and every other answer is objectively wrong.Lastly, I normally don't have a problem with studiofags or moefags nominating meme shows for AOTS purely on the basis of their personal enjoyment, neither do I enter their threads to shit on them, but the moe SOL shows this season are so mind-bogglingly boring it's unbelievable.

Techpriest is a psycho who speaks in formal japanese and has this kind but deranged thing going on.

The scene where he falls into the failure pits and the little monster children are crawling up his arm? He's calling out their names individually and asking them how they are.

He never once curses them or gets angry in any way, he has a very calm and collected attitude and consistently compliments them for outsmarting him.

He's also got a bit of religious/philosophical vibe. In the scene where he adopts Prushka he says something to the effect of

Also his death scene was very poignant. The dialogue goes like this

Every other anime this season has been pretty lackluster. Maid dragon ain't that great and Youjo Senki has a pretty bad story and the character designs are atrocious. Haven't seen LWA.

He struck me as an erudite philosopher or scholar of some sort who fell into madness at some point down the line, mostly because he exudes a Soulsborne vibe that was hard for me not to pick up on. And he actually is dead then, one panel seemed to suggest he was still alive which threw me for a loop but it must've just been a flashback. Still a bit confused as to how he survived being crushed by a boulder but not the energy blast.
Also while I've got you, mind if I ask what's up with that tall, pale, Tim Burton-esque milf chick from earlier on? Something suggested she was tangentially related to psycho techpriest dude at some point in time, but it doesn't elucidate to me why she randomly whooped their asses for no discernible reason, then dusted them off and sent them on their merry way with a bunch of supplies and materials. Milf burton chick was the mother's mentor. If I remember correctly she was the one who carried the magical cube containing rico when she was born so that she wouldn't fall victim to the curse of the abyss. She makes a big deal over how dead she is on the inside and how she hates rico, but in fact it was (mostly) a ruse because her mother asked milf burton chick to test out her daughter when they met and prepare her along the path or something similar.

More over Rico was born a stillborn and the cube that she was carried inside of wasn't to keep the abyss out, it was to bring her to life. The cube's life giving effect doesn't last forever and could run out one day, killing rico.

Milf Burton is related to techpriest because they're both white flutes. Time in the abyss runs differently according to depths, so she's been a white flute for fifty years by the standard of those on the surface, meanwhile techpriest has been around for centuries or some other incomparable length of time.

As for tech priest still being alive at the end. I'm 90% sure that was just the mask and it was one of his followers wearing it to symbolize the passing of control over the forwarding base. Nanachi makes a comment like "I should've destroyed that mask when I had the chance" and also because they show you he has a human eye beneath the mask while techpriest (real name bondred) has a very bestial eye. I'm pretty sure they mention that his experiments and curse suppressing techniques led to irreconcilable loss of humanity a while back.

In my case I really didn't have very high hopes for it however picked it up anyway because of KyoAni and it has far exceeded expectations. I wasn't sure how much effort they would actually put into this show. They've really gone all out though trying to do it justice. The animation is some of, if not the best, this season. The Tohru/Kanna "fight" or Tohru/robber chase down for example were top notch scenes.

Thinks again, you've helped put many things in a new light. Looking at it again the guy wearing the mask now is totally human, I guess I just didn't care who he was until he put it on. I also don't think I like this cube business, I feel like we're being set up for some major tragedy. Again. I really want to believe love is going to conquer all here, but there is very little light to be found the further down you go. That and Nanachi most likely holding best girl status as of right now has me seriously wavering on what the real OTP here is.
What really has me hooked onto this series here is the sheer anticipation I'm left in wondering just where we're going from here, how much deeper we're going to go, what other white flutes we'll be seeing, how their relationships will develop and how it's all going to pan out. Frankly I haven't been this excited for a manga in quite a while.

But 3-gatsu is my favorite because I love shogi! Just like Hikaru no Go, it gives an look at a normally hidden culture, the life of shogi professionals. They must have a pro consultant: all the games and problems have been legit. It helps that I like the characters and their designs.

Based KyoAni is always AOTS

I mostly watched konosuba, acca and 3-gatsu, so out of these three so far konosuba takes it, but 3-gatsu is close second. Acca still drags on too much for me to judge, but it's still quite good. I also had to drop youjo senki and maid dragon both after two episodes, but to be honest the premises already turned me off beforehand.
Honerable mention is onihei as it was pretty underwhelming from the getgo, but now i'm at episode 5 and its shaping up to be far better than expected.

Rakugo again, it's just too great.
