I'm liking this show a ton, it's good at setting up a main conflict that has so far had no outright confrontations, so the dramatic tension is high every time someone does drop something directly. Somehow, Jean's muted reaction to these revelations is way better than "EHHHHHHHHHHH, NANI?!?!". Or at least more refreshing.

No. Princess' guard which was mentioned in this episode is Jean's current boss with blonde mustache. Nino's father was working for him and helped him to hide princess 33 years ago, so others thought that she died in a ship wreak. They hide her because Qvalum wanted to kill her. But Abend couldn't do it cause he loved her. After her death Nino started working for Abend like his father did befire.

And then every episode contained some advance of the main plot and new information about the characters and their world. Who was in charge of animation this episode? It felt like the small details had a lot of attention paid to them. Jean's shrug, Nino's hands on the wine glass, things like that. It was great.

I love the color palettes in ACCA. Combined with the art style it feels grounded with a hint of fantasy. The mood is easy to feel just from the shot itself. Jean's low-key autism is also a great change of pace from the usual over-reactive nature of anime characters in general. There are no deformed characters, no sudden background changes to accompany a character's expressions. Probably my AOTS for all the aesthetic sensibility that it displays. It genuinely feels like a mature show with adult characters.

We can go back and forth and talk about what's worthy of drama but considering the time period and the characters everything feels pretty realistic. Most of the characters are sympathetic despite their flaws so it's interesting to watch.

I will never understand why people like tomatoes or why they're included in just about every fucking meal. They're disgustingly squishy inside with seeds, pulp, and juice everywhere and not enough taste to make up for it.

This show makes me crave sweets like no other, though. It might even make me want to eat tomatoes if they ever showed off something other than pastries. Something about the art and the loving detail for the food, I guess.

So they say, as I watch another 24 minutes of X character spoonfeeding Jean all of the information again. The big twist was predictable to a certain degree but there is zero suspense and impact when it's revealed to him. Even worse how he has less charisma than the bread he eats so there's no decent reaction from him to make up for it. Those pesky shounen/moefags would never understand though, this totally isn't just a comfy slice of life with food porn under the guise of being a political drama. You know, the fact that people keep spoonfeeding Jean is actually a valid criticism and I understand why people feel disappointed with this. MC is just kinda there instead of being really proactive, but I feel that that's the point. It's a show about a guy who is incompetent when it comes to politics/espionage and wants nothing to do with this, but his circumstances force him to be a part of it all anyway. And so he deals with it in his own autistic way. I personally enjoy it because I find Jean's approach entertaining.
