Am I the only one that sees this as a lesser-tier Ghibli movie? I love Sootballs and Kamaji as much as the next guy, but the story doesn't justify a two hour run-time. Phenomenal art though, might be Ghibli's best in that regard.

"Am I the only one" is indeed a pretty cancerous sentence structure. Still it's only a cautious but badly thought-trough expression of insecurity and desire to fit it and not an indication of the actual self-centered belief that the poster is an unique and special human being.

No. The plot is pretty much where a bunch of things that happen that have a weaker messages and plot than Gibli works before it came out. The only reason it won an Oscar is because it was a weak year for animation.
