Depends on how good you need. Even the best seasons won't hold a candle to Princess Tutu or the like, but they're not awful. Himari's episode was better but as a character and in terms of her general storyline Aoi is a lot more interesting and has more potential. I guess they're fairly different though since Aoi has an unexplored backstory and her own supporting cast but less potential for growth while Himari has no support cast and had a flat and straightforward backstory but has more obvious future development like Yayoi.

What was the deal with the live action footage used in the cooking scene in episode 1? If that's a thing they're doing, I don't think it works, the little segment at the end is much better, but even so, it hasn't happened since...

Honestly episode 1 on the whole felt a little uneven, I feel like they've forgotten how to start a show gracefully, episode 2 wasn't so bad, episode 3 felt fucking unnatural that they so quickly became friends with Aoi. At this point it feels like it'd work better if they just started skipping the introductory episodes altogether, just throw us straight in.

That's more indicative of how bad Dune and Dyspear in particular were. Despariah as well but at least she had the distinction of being the first female villain and a good foil to Nozomi.

Pierrot at least has the best design of any villain and despite his short screentime he makes the best of it, unlike Dune for example who appears more but hardly does anything. Pierrot is never sitting down. He's a very simple villain, like the Dark King, but effective and works well in a show like Smile.

Regardless of HapCha's problems Red is a really well realized villain and has an interesting motivation. Good fight too.

Pierrot isn't that bad. Dune had no backstory and it makes what was done with him so much worse, you can't have such an empty villain like that in a season like Heartcatch. It makes his whole redemption/forgiveness/death terrible.

Dyspear was bland nothingness that didn't do anything the whole show. Despariah had no backstory either and also sat around doing nothing the whole show.

Yeah Dune gets to Earth and then for the finale sits around doing nothing as his minions fight. He gets one very brief scene in episodes 46-47. That's it.

Pierrot has way less screentime but he's never sitting around scratching his dick and wasting it.

Dune design was better than Pierrot, and he at least kicked ass instead of just replacing the better villain to do nothing and have no personality like Pierrot did with Joker.

Dyspear also had at least some personality that she showed and was took initiative during the mid season climax. Her existence also served a purpose in the story thematic, which is much more that it can be said for Pierrot.
She wasn't even final boss anyway, that was Close.

Same goes to Desparaia, she became active at some points and showed personality, not that she was very good villain but at least they tried with her.

Pierrot was literally nothing, they didn't bothered with him, he being on top of anyone is ridiculous unless you have a clown fetish, even then Joker was much better.
