I feel the same way, I realize it's mostly the characters, but I was already quite enjoying and following the series before a lot of my now-favorites were even introduced

So, how would you guys describe Kimetsu no Yaiba? Because even after all this time I'm still not sure.

I'm planning on writing a review for it, but I'm waiting on the next arc to start to see what kind of series it really is. For now, I guess I'd say it's kind of like shounen action adventure mixed with the Three Stooges. Otherwise, difficult to pinpoint.

I feel like most battle shounen have a more concrete structure, though. There's a travel element to Kimetsu no Yaiba, and although Tanjirou DOES have a goal, he moves on orders so it's not quite like a "journey".

As for the comedy element, it feels different from usual to me. Rather than simply being about "wacky" things or character gimmicks (the creed of WSJ "comedy"), it's often about how the main characters are all stupid in different ways (hence my stooges comparison). Inosuke is uncivilized and lacks basic human understanding, Zenitsu is a lecherous coward, Tanjirou is stubborn and dense (but unlike most shounen heroes, he's not also hyperactive -- he's actually pretty serious)
