Case Closed is a valid name Edition
Case Closed is what it's called in the western market
in countries that matter. I call is Detective Conan but I wouldn't care at all if someone called it Case Closed.
I would sell my soul to be able to smell this boy.
Even if there's a difference they are both valid ways to refer to the series.
Same person here.
Also I regret saying its ok to call it Case Closed.
I only said that in the first thread since normies might not know what Detective Conan is, but fuck them DC is a much better name
1. Sera is shit. She is literally the worst kind of person both in appearance and in mannerisms
2. Haibura is the best girl, no question asked. She is a smart red-pilled matured women while also in a prime loli body
3. It's called Detective Conan you faggots
Hey I made that thread fuck you.
Because of that thread I learned the wiki had a list depicting the important episodes which was neat.
Does anyone have a link to the new remastered episode 1 special that just came out?
OP here. Thread was made because there was some form of discussion instead of the thread usually dying early.
Whether it would have done that past the bump limit is beyond me, but here we are.
>I only said that in the first thread since normies might not know what Detective Conan is, but fuck them DC is a much better name
Most normies don't watch anime.
Most normies don't browse 4chan.
No one refers to Detective Conan as "Case Closed" unless they're part of that really weird subset of weebs that prefer dubs over subs unconditionally (they do exist, and they're weird).
> that really weird subset of weebs that prefer dubs over subs unconditionally (they do exist, and they're weird).
Does that really exist?
Whats there argument on FMA: Brotherhood dub over subbed?
They did, so it is a trade off. Personally, I can handle mentally changing "Jimmy" to "Shinichi" if the trade off is me getting clean scans and accurate translations.
With a series like Detective Conan, what's even the point if you can't understand the mystery? Too many fan translations fuck up technical stuff that's important to following the action along.
>With a series like Detective Conan, what's even the point if you can't understand the mystery?
You're already going to miss about 60% of the mysteries cause that many are fucking kanji related.
>Half the mysteries are of a linguistic nature and completely incomprehensible when translated
Yes, the latter half. From volumes 1-43, Gosho didn't use kanji play all that much. I mean, there are some cases like that, but no where near as many as in the second half of the manga. Early Gosho relied more on classic mystery set ups.
Sounds like the absolute
Speaking of Jirokichi, why does Gosho keep adding detectives everywhere
There's too many fucking detectives now
Hattori, Jirokichi, Sera, the secret police cunt, that one dude with a falcon, Sonoko, Sera's squinty brother.
Fuck man, i bet even Sera's loli mom is gonna end up being a detective
Or even worse, he might even make her Heibara's mom.
If someone actually lasted that long, then nothing in DC would phase them, considering that the Kir Arc which precedes Sera's appearance was the lowest point of the series.
Sera's mom is named Mary Sera. Haibara's mom is named Elena Miyano so they're not the same person, but they are sisters. And she probably will turn out to be some kind of agent.
I respect your right to have an opinion but why do you hate my wife so much?
>Akemi and Shuuichi were cousins
Not that anon, but while he was a fucking annoying clumsy nigger, he wasn't worse, they're just as bad.
At worst, he made the audience hate him for interfering
Sera is basically Hattori-style character but without anything that makes her likeable
The issue is that she brings nothing new to the table
Her character is basically "She's a detective Ran" or "She's a kung-fu Hattori girl"
Most of the time you don't give a fuck about her and all her gags are about her being flatchested.
Even as a detective, you don't have any rivalry between her and Conan.
The only interesting things about Sera are the things that she's involved in. I bet you any other members of her family could have filled her role and nothing would have changed.
It's been years but could somebody remind me if Bourbon was an actual character or if that was Shuuichi the entire time.
>but without anything that makes her likeable
-chill as fuck
-jeet kun do
-competitive without being argumentative
>Even as a detective, you don't have any rivalry between her and Conan.
That's a good thing. The lame rivalry between Conan and Heiji is played out. Conan's at his best when he's working side-by-side with people who are of equal intelligence as him, like Shuuichi or the Nagano detectives. His petty arguments with Heiji get annoying.
>It's been years but could somebody remind me if Bourbon was an actual character or if that was Shuuichi the entire time.
Bourbon turned out to be Amuro, but he turned out to be a double agent anyway, so the entire thing was pointless.
Personally I think Sera is cuter but they're both great.
I lost my shop of Sera with Natsuki's glasses
>but they're both great
The detective koshien girl isn't a character. She hasn't been seen since the case. Same thing with all those detectives from the Sunset Mansion Case.
Did this little cat clue ever turn into anything?
This was shortly before the Vermouth bomb finally dropped.
I've never particularly liked "Haibara Ai". I'm not saying that Anita Hailey is a good name, but I have no particular attachment to Haibara, either.
The worst changes Viz did was those first chapters where Gin and Vodka became Melchior and Gaspar. However, they quickly changed them back with the excuse that those were brand names of alcohol. They currently use the correct names for them.
Fine, you got me on the likeable thing being subjective but most of your arguments are about design.
Her as a character, i can't stand. I can't wait until her arc is resolved and she decides to join the Red Army choir or some shit and goes the way of Eisuke
>That's a good thing. The lame rivalry between Conan and Heiji is played out. Conan's at his best when he's working side-by-side with people who are of equal intelligence as him, like Shuuichi or the Nagano detectives. His petty arguments with Heiji get annoying.
How can you not like the banter between him and Heiji?
They have a nice friendly rivalry where they both want to beat the other but can set it aside to work together.
And you said it yourself, he works side-by-side with a lot of people, she adds nothing new.
So far all he has in terms of rivals is Heiji (not even a rival anymore, mostly a sidekick), Kid and then the hawk guy appeared for 2 murders some 500 chapters ago and that's it.
Hell, Kogoro has more rivals as a detective.
>Bourbon turned out to be Amuro
Oh yeah i forgot that
Was Shuuichi's brother an actual character or has he not been introduced yet officially.
I remember Shuuichi disguising himself as him and living in Shinichi's house.
Oh look at that.
The final horse finally crosses the finish line.
I've just never cared for him. Kid too for that matter. I get that some people really like their parts of the story, which is cool. I care most about the Black Org. plot though, which is why Heiji doesn't appeal to me as much.
>Was Shuuichi's brother an actual character or has he not been introduced yet officially.
He's the shougi player and is also Yumi's love interest. Honestly, he seems inconsequential, outside of fluff chapters.
>How can you not like the banter between him and Heiji?
I liked it better back when Heiji was mancrushing on Conan and Conan was barely tolerating him. These days, their interaction ranges from boring to overly comedic.
>goes the way of Eisuke
Eisuke was written out of the series because Gosho realized he was a mistake. Nobody wants an effeminate teenager who's not even that smart bungling around the set.
Heiji is pretty awful. He's always getting worked up about things or focusing on something petty.
KID, on the other hand, is great. Not all of his cases are exciting, but KID himself is a gift of a character.
For what it's worth, I read the Viz translations and can barely remember the English names of the characters.
Megure to Meguire is still a fucking 10/10 name substitution though. Hats off to that.
Remember when Gosho was hinting that Haibara liked Conan? I miss that little love triangle.
I've never forgiven the second movie for stating that Eri and Kogoro broke up because he insulted her cooking. I don't know if we're supposed to consider that canon, but it pisses me off.
It was brought up when they were in the film studio.
>Gosho never hinted at that.
You're a fucking retard. Go read the manga.
Gosho was heavily hinting that Haibara had a crush on Conan, but he backed off on it and it hasn't been brought up in a long time.
Not just that one, either. There's also one of the early Haibara cases where they're at that game in the stadium.
I've always thought of it as the straw that broke the camel's back, but not the actual root cause of their separation.
Like, we already know that Kogoro is gambling, womanizing alcoholic. Most women don't like being married to that. Imagine putting up with that for years, and to add on top of that, he says your cooking sucks. Fuck that shit, you're a lawyer, you can do better than some slob third-rate detective.
Kogoro & Eri's strained relationship is very realistic when you think about it.
Every flashback shows them having an ideal, loving marriage. That points to an incident breaking them up, not general fighting.
Going by movie canon, it was because his wife was being held at knifepoint, and he shot her in the leg, ON PURPOSE, to make it difficult for the knife-wielder to properly hold her hostage.
That's severe negligence from a police perspective. I have no idea if there's a more canon explanation in the anime/manga.
>Make a flirty character
>Give her a boyfriend
For what purpose
Holy fucking shit, this movie is awful. There's no investigation. As soon as Conan leaves the room, a clue shows up that he misses. He barely even tries to follow along. Then at the end he just asks Kid to explain everything to him.
Movies 19 and 20 were both awful. It's not like any of the movies are stellar, but most of them at least have Conan investigating a mystery and solving it. The last two movies feature the least amount of detective work in the entire series.
I don't really ask much of Detective Conan movies. I don't expect a well-written mystery or good suspect characters. All I want is
>there to be a mystery
>Conan to investigate that mystery
>Conan to solve that mystery
>Conan to do some cool things while his theme music plays
Movies 19 and 20 didn't even have that.
Which one was that? I don't remember that one at all.
But the best movie is still Captured in Her Eyes.
>excuse me Miss *lay hand on shoulder*
>I gonna beat you down!
The fuck is that bitch's problem?! Is she always asking someone a question and suddenly attacks when that person doesn't answer quick enough?
This really isn't a
>Pardon me, madam.
expression he has.
I'm guessing that Rumi-sensei used to be a police detective under Hyoue and was investigating the Black Organization. She was also dating Kohji Haneda at the time and her investigation got Kohji killed. So she quit the force to avenge Kohji by herself and try to lure out Rum with her fake name. It would explain Hyoue and Rumi's relationship. And so far we've got the FBI, CIA, and the NPA investigating the Black Org, it would make sense that the Japanese Police is doing their own investigation too.
Is lost track of all the possible Rum suspects. There are, like, ten by now?
Could it be that Rum is a group of people? THat would explain the varying descriptions, but make the common aspect ("fake eye") less transparent ...
Wait a minute...
Wasn't there an episode about a Kaito Kid heist where the central thing was that letters signed by Kaito Kid written top to bottom instead of left to right were fake?
The reason it's still going is because it's a fucking huge cash cow. If Conan hadn't become so mind-bendingly popuar it would've been wrapped up ages ago. Not that guy and I like Conan, to clarify.
>Because formulaic shit is endless while good series have a start and an end.
>English is atrocious, please refrain from posting.
What did he mean by this?
Hiding behind a deleted post to avoid the same mistake?
The meaning of my sentence is pretty clear even with the word my tablet didn't register.
Your post on the other hand is a typical case of a retard with no understanding of grammatical structure.
>The meaning of my sentence is pretty clear even with the word my tablet didn't register.
>English is atrocious
>Your English is atrocious
Correct, yes. Clear, no. You yourself had such a problem with it that you deleted it.
I thought it was clear?
It's funny you'd say that considering most Westerners watching Conan are Fernandos.
Are you projecting or what?
>can't even type properly on a text board
If you can't even type properly what he fuck are you doing here.
also agree for me that one. 18 i like favorite of the movies.
when conan exploded found will to live
subaru and talk like akai voice i think was coolest part to me
Everyone was able to solve this case, right? There isn't a person in the modern world who shouldn't have seen something wrong with this video.
18 is great
I liked 17, even if everyone else didn't. It was fun seeing Conan wandering around on his own, investigating things and messing with people. I loved when he was spying on the female navy officer and got her caught without her ever realizing.
15 was fun for Conan's stunt at the end, plus seeing Ran cry over him
14 is one of the best movies; nothing beats two hours of Conan fighting terrorists
