I wish I got into this thread earlier to discuss it. I've watched H&C 10+ times and I initially watched it with /a/. I truly believe it changed my life and shaped what I did with it, in a good way.

I am backlogged 6 episodes of 3gatsu. It just isn't the same. All this time I had not read the series because I thought it would never get an anime and I'd save it up to read.

I understand it's more of a coming of age story than H&C's romance coming of age story, but I just feel that (at least the anime) it isn't executed as well. Characters are absurdly weaker. I'm up to the point where Nikaido makes the book for the girls, and he is the only character of value so far.

I am by no means dropping it, but it crushes me to see it directed by fucking SHAFT and to be so much worse than H&C (so far).

I'm the opposite, I haven't watched H&C because I've been saving it up. I think 3gatsu is a great series on its own. It's very endearing and easygoing without the heaviness of most series like it. The series is pretty slow, which is probably why Rei seems so boring. I also think he's quite neutral in a sense- he doesn't do much for himself, just observes. However I think that it's a great way of showcasing the other characters and their personalities before Rei gets into plot heavy situations. Hina is just drawn young-looking. I think the mangaka chooses to draw her that way to reflect Hina's maturity level, which as her family mentions, is closer to an elementary schooler than a high schooler. So there is a big gap in maturity level between her and Rei who is already a working adult, although that doesn't seem to bother him any.

Age gap is my thing so I enjoy Hina and Rei's relationship a lot.
