Aside from the girls showing a ton of skin I don't really know how anime KLK really is, it's just a typical shonen otherwise and those generally do well. People seem to like Action and Drama over more family friendly shows like LWA is. Also consider that it appealed to people based on the fact it was an action show with an a largely female cast, including antagonist. LWA has an all female cast(which KLK didn't even boast, there were males just in less important parts, the most important Male in the show was a school uniform), however it's much more laid back so I don't think it's getting the same kind of appeal KLK got for having so many females.

I still don't know what Trigger plans to do with Diana though. They buff her too much and invest so much background in her character (of which sadly we have seen none other than her appearing in SC show in ep 1), now it would just seem silly if they completely discard her in cour 2. Show is also too family friendly for Diana to ever be corrupted and turn into a mid boss, and making her deuteragonist is even more retarded since she is likely to outclass Akko anyways.

We haven't seen much of Sucy's spellcasting, so I think that to say she's skilled in dark magic or whatever is to much of a stretch based on what we know. Diana could also just use that time stop spell and stop poisons/potions in mid air when thrown. Only way Sucy can really win 1v1 is if she gets the drop on Diana.
