No idea what you smoke but people pointed out the inconsistency the second the movie was available in the west (with that 240p rip). Kimi no na wa is not a film for the brain, its for the heart. Even if you dislike certain aspects of it you will still tear up. Reason being the somewhat forced drama in combination with the incredible sound design/OST. The film is good, but it also has a shit ton of flaws. Just because you arent willing to see them, or try to explain them away in a really desperate manner, doesnt mean that they dont exist. Despite its flaws I still think that it was way better than all the shit nominated for the Oscars.

I got to see this in cinema again last night. I've had a few months to dwell on it since my first viewing but it absolutely holds up. There's not a single wasted plot point or element in this film. I'd still probably recommend people wait on watching the torrent that's out but I've seen that as well and it's pretty decent and you're not going to miss out on that much by watching instead of waiting.

What's the deal with this?

When Taki goes to Itomori, the school is on the same side of the lake as the impact.
Yet just a bit later when they're in the library, the school is shown on the map on the opposite side of the crater.
And later in Mitsuha's timeline you can see the crater on the opposite side.
I don't know how to explain this other than a production error.

IMO, I think the god fix the paradox by making everyone related to the timeline fixing incident forget about it. The reason that they can't swapped after dating scene was changed from because Mitsuha was death to because Mitsuha fullfil her duty. The only paradox left is that Taki hadn't learn about comet diaster since no one died from it. But that hole could be left out by god power.

While not as well-animated as a Ghibli movie, Kimi no Na Wa. is still notable for having good animation unlike Shinkai's previous films which could only rely on pretty backgrounds. This time, Shinkai managed to assemble a team of skilled animators, a number of which are regular faces in Ghibli and Production I.G. movies hence the movie having a fair amount of impressive scenes.

Not 3D anon, it's intensively rotoscoped referenced high framerate animation, that's why it's looked like 3D model. But they actually use 3D model for the background tho (with highly detailed texture painting).

To be fair, it's rare in anime to find animated crowds save for Ghibli movies which do tend to pull off some really impressive ones. Shinkai and animation supervisor Masashi Ando (who has been supervisor for Ghibli movies before) actually wanted to animate more but they didn't have the budget to do so. If Shinaki can assemble the same team for his next project with a higher budget then you can be sure to see animation closer to Ghibli levels.
