Good ride, bad ending

I didn't read it word for word but I read summaries of the first three volumes and it seems pretty good. The character focus is more shallow than in other mainline Fate stories, but that's to be expected given the size of the cast. Those good old Fate themes like the nature of heroism, the pros and cons of various motivations and ways of living, the costs that can come with being an extraordinary person, and of course endless PHILOSOPHY BATTLEZ and RULES HEAVY URBAN FANTASY MAGIC to hit that /tg/ spot we all have seem to be intact in this entry.

I think the scale of the story and the general likability of the majority of the very large cast might let it compare favorably with Zero. Zero is certainly a tighter, intense and more in-depth story with MUCH deeper characters, but Apocrypha isn't a slouch by any means and I think the spectacle will help it make up a lot of ground.

I'm looking forward to weekly Fate threads again. Dis gon be gud.

Having only read the manga, have to say it's even shittier than I expected.
Might just be the adaption being shit. But I don't have any hopes for the anime.

1. I enjoyed it (more than Zero even but that's just my two cents). The focus is different, in Apocrypha the Grail war goes off the rail and it basically turns into Jeanne and friends trying to prevent the well meaning Amakusa from changing mankind into happy vegetables whereas in Zero it was a "real" Grail war until the end. What I disliked the most in Apoc were all the Sieg/Jeanne silly moments but that didn't put me off like some other people.

2. No idea. I was disappointed with how the Zero anime handed the "big" moments, I hope Apoc will be better about it.

So you've never read Tsukihime? even Nasu loves it. There's a reason is the only Type Moon manga to ever sell 200k when every other sells 30-60 at best

But leaving sales asides, the heaven's feel manga is also really good, so far even better than the VN since it has more Sakura focus which is needed and other stuff added by Nasu
