Aniplex was pushing hard for it before it aired with all those names attached to it (three popular LN writers plus three popular anison acts performing the theme songs, plus Aoi Yuuki).

But Quality Code had little to no budget.
That was the tragedy.
It had likable cast, plot with twists and lots of "cool" scenes that would look great if not for the poor animation.
Promotion wasn't high and there weren't much anons that have read LNs. It wasn't really popular here when it aired too.

The whole plot was a train wreck after episode 4. I've never seen a show drop so dramatically in writing quality. The first two episodes were straight 10/10.

It would take me ages to go over everything they did wrong. I don't know how the fuck it got a season 2.
