Good concept, executed decently at first, but left a lot to be desired, especially later on. The fields themselves gave a lot of setting variety, but when we left Standard and were forced to stick with Crossover, which I can understand why, it would've helped if the opponents had their own field spells to compensate and that only happened 3 times. However, that probably would've brought up even more questions, if it hasn't already. The same could be said for the action cards, which I thought would've been the replacement for the one-off and obviously never to be printed cards, but apparently that didn't stop those.

I have no particular opinions regarding the action duels in general in either manga series, though I did prefer how the action riding duel in Yugo vs Ren was handled.

While on the subject of action cards, I must ask, what is the limit on how many action cards are there in a duel? Seems to me that it varies depending on the field card. For the manga, it was stated there were 4 in Phantom vs Sawatari, but if I read the summaries right, 6 were used in Phantom vs Sora. For the anime, Kachidoki noted that the action cards were all gone after 5 were found and used in his 2nd duel against Yuya, but Tsukikage vs Shinji had a whopping 11.

I dont really remember a good action card duel.
Yuzu vs Masumi 2 and Sora vs Yuya 2 had some nice use but not something that would make me go wow. Tsukikage's technique was great though.
As for the worst, i think they always were.
People say that they are better than waboku clones and maybe they are a little but they open a new can of worms. For being random and face down 99% of the times Yuya picks up the exact card that will save him. I wont even start on Action Traps.
Yuya was the one to spam them the most, saving his ass many times but his opponents never tried to do it.
Just Yuya saving his ass while the opponents rarely doing the same even when they see him do it.
Non-Standard characters also lose face when being saved by Action Cards because if this foreign element wasnt here they would lose under normal circumstance.

So after going through the slog that was Zarc, I have to ask, has there been a final boss monster/strategy in YGO that hasn't been dumb?

Gx's was dumb.
5D's' Z-One had a good archetype and took Yusei a bunch of deus ex cards to win, but even so his strategy wasn't exactly solid and depended on drawing cards to summon his lvl 10 monsters. If he didn't start with one like that it was game over.
Zexal's Don Thousand had Numeron Network activated on the start for maximun negation, but that was technically cheating. Also, he was good in Zexal's world which is focused on sitting on bosses and/or evolving them, though written duels against him in stores seemed pretty hard at the time before powercreep happened.
Zarc's is good even at our time- is what I would say if we didn't have Kaijus. Though in a situation without them, he seems pretty hard for people unprepared. Like, in a match one can win, but in a straight duel with no Kaijus, a person may get rid of his pendulums, but beating him is another story

They dumbed down the dialogue completely by just skimming the surface on the Plana/Collective Conscious stuff. They cut out the lore about the Items. They added in dumb jokes and one-liners especially stuff that Kaiba would never say. They kept Kaiba's character the same as his dub counterpart. Who knows what else they changed in the script.

Just finished watching the episode. I'am the only one who thinks it was lame how everyone suddenly remembered almost everything inmediatly? I mean if they are going to do it like that then why do the memory reset to begin with? Reiji's speech to the world about the invasion, the whole Tops/Commons conflict, non-Duelists in Heartland being absolutely terrified of duelists, the people of the Fusion Dimension seeing kids not in Academia and wondering what's up.

It's really idiotic that both of them were brainwashed too, we couldn't really see in depth of their characters.

You know what made me mad? I don't even mind Ono's boner for dragons. I like them and all.

What I disliked is how Yuri has a fusion deck and all he did was his dragon and evolution. I dislike how Yuya has Magicians in his deck and used like 6 of them, barely ever exploring more and instead focusing in performapals and drawing Odd-Eyes over and over when they could have applied IRL suport to justify some of those times.

Like, fuck. Only Yugo out of them used more extra options in his archetype Even while focusing in Clear Wing. Would be great if Yuri had at least one other fusion or one that would be used as stepping stone for summoning Starving Venom, like Maken-Dama or Break Sword.

All yuus except showcased more in their deck than just the dragon bosses. It really felt even with Yuto that had 3,5 duels that they really used ED summoning focused decks with a decent range of options.

Literally Yuya v Edo all fucking over again. The Xyz Dimension already started recovering and Fusion started helping them after Edo lost so I don't know why they need to ease the sorrow. They could've just fit this back in the Xyz Dimension rather than spend time doing it here at the end. Having them duel is cool I guess. Too bad Dennis, the better entertainer, will have to job because of plot.

Ok so why is Shun in Fusion? I thought he would have been sent back to Xyz. Not sure if he remembers shit or not. In short: I didn't expect these for the summaries but I'm overall not too shocked since Arc-V is still playing the guessing game. Being unpredictable is fun but there's a certain point where you need to fucking stop. The fact there's still 2-3 episodes left past these summaries and there's no clear idea of the ending just reeks of poor planning and poor writing. Good luck salvaging this trainwreck.

The only good Shun duels were Sora 1 and LDS trio with LDS trio being only just a small taste of the Sora duel.
The Dennis duel was just a complete rehash of the Sora duel with Shun doing the now tiring thing of endlessly blabbing about "muh comrades" like he does in every duel and Dennis being all evil even if he liked the Lancers.
They also missed a chance by finally making the antagonists threatening, after Jobbelisk Force jobbing in Standard, with Dennis winning and showing Academia's might to Synchro which could lead into Obelisk invading Synchro and maybe being competent this time.
ETERNAL AVENGE had nothing going for it other than the attack animation which was overly extravagant considering even the protagonist didnt get something of that caliber.

Didn't really like the duel desu. Red Demon's got a new form just to be destroyed like one turn after? I expected more of something so hyped in such a long arc.
