I watched all five episodes today after I learned that it's a 24 minutes episode show. I first dismissed it as a short as I prefer to wait for the end of the season and marathon them.

It's rather mediocre but it has just the right amount of silliness to be cute and funny without being an actual comedy.
That last episode was particularly fun. I just wish the conflicts resolved in a more meaningful and less random way.

I think we can all agree with the notion that Idol Jihen is trying to balance silly things like Idols with serious things like politics.

Sometimes, they find a balance (Ep 2- Landfill recycled into artwork, Ep 5- Sexist politician realises the importance of working moms) and at other times they try to do stereotypical Idol things only to look very, very silly (Ep 4- Swimsuit contest didn't have anything to do with politics)

I've thought about whether Jihen could work as a satire but right now, it's been very basic. They've straight up taken what could be the LDP and turned them into obviously evil villain who at least once a week are imply to be taking bribes of expensive food.

On another note, I can't help but wonder if the reason the show is doing badly is because they're taking potshots at the LDP and right now Abe's cabinet remains extremely popular.
