Read the manga, then watch the anime. The anime is what you treat yourself to after getting caught up on the manga.

Also, if time is an issue it's going to go faster reading 1100 chapters of the manga version 125+ episodes of the anime, especially the latter half the anime the quality really dips and it does not do the source material justice.
