I disagree, honestly. I find most of those kinds of manga (there aren't many of anime like this) pretty mediocre in terms of actual character writing. 's the main reason I dislike people like Hanazawa Kengo or Furuya Minoru - they present a fucked-up MC with societal or sexual troubles and then they tend to just wallow in it, they lack the sort of feeling that actually engages me.

An idea that might work would be sort of a send-up of a battle harem. Heroine discovers boy with superpowers, and she takes a mentor role to him. But the girl herself really enjoys going 'undercover' as a high-school girl, and ends up dating someone else or even some monster-fucking.

Like, obviously it would appear she's slated to be the love interest but she doesn't HAVE to be. In fact, you could do the whole series from her perspective.
