It couldn't be one cour by any means, and Legend has a ridiculous pace, I don't want any less than in the manga. Just saying that it's cheaply made, but at least Noboru Furuse is competent.

That's 90% of the problem with initial d.
Half a chapter of talking is no big deal in the manga, in fact it relies on it given the difficulty conveying a race just by panels. It goes by really quickly.
In the anime? It drags ass. Whole episodes burned by talking heads. Fuck that I don't need it.

Well yeah, it is talking heads either way. Otherwise it's cars in the dark.
I've never felt like complaining anyway, because if you look at First Stage it's 4-5 Keisuke battle, 8-10 Nakazato, 14-15 Shingo etc. and the start and beginning aren't even full race episodes. There's shittons of not racing.
