Was Berserk better when it was just Gut's and his lust for revenge /a/?
Where do you think the ending is going will it be a complete downer for Griffith?

The Black Swordsmen Arc is my favorite arc as it depicts how Guts copes with life post Eclipse that being said if he remained an Edgelord I think the manga would have suffered.
As for the ending, no one really knows I hope it ends on an overly campy note I'm talking everyone is revived and Griffith is a husk again.

I love that part of the story, but even more than that, I really like how Guts has evolved and matured over the series' length.
I have no clue how the whole thing is going to end at this point, and I've got a feeling that not even Miura does either.

I genuinely think Miura will die before Berserk is ever finished

Golden Age is the best arc by far, probably because it was the only one Miura had planned out from the start.

Except this pretty much already happened in Golden Age, got reversed, and then happened again except this time instead of slowly learning to trust in other people, finding camaraderie, searching for his purpose in life and falling in love, Guts just sort of goes "Welp, we're a little bit past the end of the Conviction arc and a couple of kids and some church people are following me around, I guess I'm kind of at peace again even though I barely talk to any of these people. The story isbarely even about me anymore really, I'm just the guy who kills things now. Don't look at me, listen to that loli witch over there tediously explain how magic works in this universe as if anyone actually cares."
Berserk was better when it was bags.

He was just relieved to have some people to lift some of the burden from his shoulders at that point. When Farnese, Serpico, and Isidro joined him, he was on the verge of physical and mental collapse. He was already more level-headed and relaxed in the Conviction arc, mostly because of the talking to Godo gave him, and his shifting of priorities from "kill Griffith" to "protect Casca".

almost as if some kind of massively traumatic event occurred wherein all of his friends died, he lost an eye and a limb and was forced to watch the woman he loved get raped.
but you're right, there's no way something like that would affect anyone's behavior

The point is we already saw it and it's not as good the second time
Berserk was better when Guts was actually a character.
He feels more like a walking plot device now. He's so goddamn detached. And while most of the ones filling the void aren't BAD per say they're not really that great either.
The story has this overwhelming feeling of so many good ingredients being left to rot.

I love the Lost Children arc specially how it connects Golden Age, Black Swordsman and Conviction so perfectly, and how much it means to Guts's character.
How do you feel about it?

Miura or Togashi, who will finish first?

Bagserk truly is a gift.
