There just needs to be an engaging enough cliffhanger. Actually, seeing how Garou's been accelerating at a way higher pace than in the webcomic, I can see him going through all of his important fights all at once and way earlier as the season finale. WDM followed straight by Darkshine and maybe Bang/Bomb with Garou miraculously overcoming all of them and shooting straight into his monster form. Then he'd go missing until the finale of the MA arc where it'd go as usual. Would set Garou up as a menacing antagonist without revealing his endgame and keep the feeling of suspense since who knows what that crazy punk will be capable of by the end of next season.

Yes, Murata actually fixed the bad writing of the webcomic. In the webcomic the MA raid just happened out of nowhere because LUL shitty writing. ONE didn't even explain why some of the S class are missing too while in Murata's version the S class that are missing got beat up by Garou already.
