tbqh of all the dead ships, Narusaku was the one I understood the most. It wasn't so much the result of delusion and jumping through hoops as much as it was expecting far too much nuance for a shonen series.

Narusaku made a HELL of a lot more sense and having a character arc where Sakura stops being a petulant child lusting after Uchiha dick after being treated like dirt for 700 chapters would have been nice, but Kishimoto sucks ass at writing and everything he wrote was to be taken at face value. He honestly wrote this series thinking Sakura's love for Sasuke was completely 100% genuine and could never be construed as anything else. If Naruto were a western series, Narusaku wins all day, but as a shonen series they had no hope because their ship required the author to think.

The Germa are a legendary shadow army from the void century. It's sad how incompetent Judgji has been, almost completely wiping an ancient kingdom out as it's own leader.

Then again, it's a common theme in this story, of Ancient Kingdoms attempted/being conquered and separated from their historical ties (Alabasta, Skypiea, Sakura, Fishman Island, Dressrosa). Multiple instances of this have been the work of WG shichibukai.

Now it's the Germa facing extinction/irrelevance and other than joining the pirate kings armada they will be, but they won't die.

Not once while reading Naruto did anything other than NaruHina make sense. It followed a typical story pattern where the brain dead male lead would eventually realise the cute innocent female had feelings for him.
Likewise with Bleach, but with the added barrier of species between Ichigo and Rukia. The fact that he ages at a human rate while she's a full Shinigami would have made it too weird for Kubo to make canon.
Then there's the larger point of romance meaning fucking nothing in battle shounen, and any reader who gets emotionally invested in a ship is a lost cause and should probably kill themselves.

Anyone else wish there were more uncategorized pirate crews? There's very few crews that aren't part of the Shichibukai, Yonkou or Supernova.

To be fair, now that we entered Yonkou level, Admirals aren't out of Luffy's reach. Green Bull could work as a perfect fight in the future.

I think the problem is more how to have an arc where marines can be antagonists and it make sense with the plot, as pirates can be doing something arguably evil for Luffy to want to fight them, but Luffy doesn't actively want to fight the marines, but the other way around.

I feel like in the future we should get an arc about the SHs raiding one of the Marine bases and destroying it. Could be a fun refreshing arc without needing many plotlines, though seeing how the anime did G8 I don't think Oda's got a plan like that in mind.

You know what I've noticed recently?
One Piece changed.

Used to be, the Straw Hats had only one goal - find the One Piece. Sure, they had secondary goals they needed to achieve in order to do it (get to Reverse Mountain, get to the Sabaody), but those were the kinda goals that they'd achieve eventually anyway, as long as they'd sail in the right direction.
Most of their adventures before the timeskip were about them stumbling into trouble on their journey. Sure, sometimes they'd take a detour - like when they picked up Vivi, or when Luffy tried to save Ace - but for the most part, it would stay the same: sail in the right direction, reach an island, find out there's trouble, fix it, sail on to the next adventure.

But it changed. The moment they met Law in Punk Hazard, almost 200 chapters ago, everything changed. Now they're are actively looking for trouble - we have to get to Dressrosa and sabotage Doflamingo, we have to get to Zou and reunite with the rest of our crews, we have to get to Totland and rescue Sanji and also steal a Poneglyph, we have to get to Wano and defeat Kaido... This isn't the same story about high adventures on the sea and the thrill of exploring exciting new places, it's a series of missions (in exciting new places).

I'm not saying that it's bad, but it's different.
And some people don't like "different".

A better example was Baroque Works Saga, which spanned four islands and a bit of the twin cape (if you're generous, Drum Island was it's own story, but they DID go there to find a doctor). But even then, the "Actually Planning Out Their Journey Saga", by it's end, will probably last longer than Baroque Works and East Blue Sagas COMBINED.

I started watching it on TV in the latin american dub, it was around 2006 or so, but they stopped just when Chopper was introduced, so I couldn't watch more. It was based on 4kidz, so when I decided to read the manga in 2008 I had to start over, and caught up shortly.

Since then I don't think I've missed a chapter.

I started the anime this time in Japanese in 2011 (though I had watched Enies Lobby before as it was my favorite arc), and I only stayed behind from the middle of Punk Hazard to the beginning of Dressrosa because of how awful the arc was in the anime.
