They just kind of pretended the last few episodes of the first season didn't happen and jumped right into the next arc of the manga. Probably the best course of action. I'm honestly surprised I didn't see more confused posts pop up on here because the first season was pretty popular, but I guess enough time has passed that no one cares anymore.

I mean the show's entertaining and has cute boys if you're into that but it's really not good enough for you to skip material and risk being confused. I mean it's not like you're jumping right into the good stuff. The manga story quality is pretty consistent so if S1 isn't doing it for you I doubt S2 will.

I think the movie is kind of like filler, canon but not exactly relevant. I heard it was pretty heartwarming since it's mostly Rin and little demon boy hijinks but I never got around to watching it myself. Perhaps I should.
