The art style varied depending on where on the island they were. I think it has to do with the 'magic' of the place or something.

The dreams were not drawn that way in the last chapter though, so I expect the regular art style to return once they get off the island.

I'm having having a hard time dealing with the fact that after Elf Island is over, the crew will need some way to get back to Mainland to advance the plot.

The old art was really unique imo. And I'm not a nostalgia-fag, I just read all of Berserk over the past 10 days. I just prefer the art from the BS arc

personally, there was no point in berserk where i didnt like the drawing. i can see the big change anyway and can understand if someone doesnt like it. best part imho was around hawk advent, both the drawing and the plot were really nice.
i still dont get how he could get ganishuka's lightning so shittily done tho, that's really repulsive
now it has a different aura that's quite obvious, still makes me curious to see where this will go

Yeah I've never disliked the art in Berserk until right now. Even now I don't know if I dislike it or if I've just been spoiled with it up until now, but it really took a nosedive with the latest couple chapters or so.
Fingers crossed it goes back to normal soon.

I've been thinking it might be Casca, but I only finished Berserk today so I should think it over more before throwing my theories out there. I like tragic endings so I lean towards that type of shit when I make predictions.

It isn't that fucking hard to understand, clearly going digital is much faster for Miura to make chapters and he's still getting used to drawing with that format. That's the reason why all the lines look perfect and thicker and why stuff looks flatter. His drawing style changed to more cutesy because the guy just reached 50 and enjoyed playing idolm@ster on his breaks.

Nearly done reading this finally. Is there anything even close to it in quality?

Yes the old style will return. but when I say old style I mean the one from the boat trip Not the black swordsman arc. You can see he really changed the way of drawing guts with his chin, nose, eyes and hair. During the last flashback of that elf the flower and Guts being young as a mercenary. His face was the same as adult guts during those chapters so it is clear he can't or doesn't go back to early guts from the 90's.
