It really encapsulates his weaknesses and strengths well, and shows both the compassion he had for select people combined with his extreme Machiavellian tendencies to exploit everything towards his ends, no matter what.

The whole Euphemia incident is what makes this series. The Geass goes overdrive, Lelouch fucks up big time and then takes the chance to get an amazing advantage, the revolution reaches a climax, and Suzaku becomes the worst rival.
>>
>>152609927
>why did he not get rid of the immortal tool that's immune to Geass

What especially got me was when right before that, he said he was going to exploit it for all it's worth because it was the least he could do for Euphemia. However, I believe my favorite moment in Code Geass was when Lelouch first revealed Zero to the world after the Lake Takaguichi incident.

Whoever said CC was working for the Emperor for 90% of the series and had betrayed Lelouch is fucking retarded and needs to go rewatch the show.

CC knew about Charles' plan, but left to do her own thing with Lelouch. She only casually accepted going along with Charles when she saw he took VV's code and could therefore take hers. But it was a half-hearted turn that she quickly changed her mind about. CC was loyal to Lelouch (and herself) for the entire series.

I tried watching the dub after watching the sub for the 5th time.

It's just not as good. How could anyone even compare it?

Does it get better after the first couple of episodes?
>>
>>152626659
I have no idea where all the dub loving is coming from. Honestly, it's not the worst dub on the planet, but it's not comparable. It had some breakout scenes where it comes together better than the dub did, but overall it's worse. I think the Lancelot albion scene is better dubbed, and I think the first season end is equal, but overall the sub wins. The ending in the dub is dragged down by how awful Nunally's VA is, but bosch actually delivers pretty hard even though I don't like him as Lelouch.

Code Geass is just full of epic moments. Even ones that seem unimportant in the long run like crashing the mountain on Britannians was unsurmountable. That being said, my favourite great moment would be when Lelouch goes live aboard the Damocles and declares he's in control of all the fleijas.

I actually like the plot twist a lot, but I do agree that it was generally poorly done. There's no way that a supposedly smart dude like Lelouch should ever be cracking a joke about genocide to his angelic cousin, and him losing control of his geass should've been gradually set-up ahead of time.

It definitely needed more work on the part of the writer. They actually have the opportunity to fix it in the recaps, but I doubt they're going to do shit about it, sadly.

She never telepathed with Charles directly.
And her talk with Marianne wasn't about important info related to Lelouch/Zero & the BK or anything. and with VV it was mostly her shitting on him.
You see thanks to the world of C, Charles, VV and Marianne knew about Lelouch and his bullshit already. There was no need for her to give info to them in the fist place.
Sure she could have said something about this fact to him but well he was just pretending to be doing shit for his mom and sister but in fact he wanted to change the world by himself. CC went along with him without denying him of his "reasons of justice".
Still her being able to talk to Marianne (also even the fact that Marianne was still kinda alive) was such a meaningless twist in the end. It served no purpose other than just give people some material to cast doubts on CC and all.

Also well until the last ep of R1, both of them was kinda using each other. After Lelouch confirmed her that he was willing to be her warlock then she started to be a genuine companion to him.

They did foreshadow that with Mao and earlier during the episode where it triggered. Plus Lelouch is not that impeccably smart though. He's shown to be quite flawed and immature long before the Geass stuff happened in that episode.

They should've done more, in my opinion, 'gradually' being the key word. His geass going off by itself was the turning point for the story, and for a plot development of this magnitude it should've had more build-up.

>Plus Lelouch is not that impeccably smart though

Not impeccably, sure, but he's obviously portrayed as smart and charismatic. Euphie is probably the last person one'd joke with about murdering civilians, no matter how you look at it.
>>
>>152635712
I'd say Lelouch has been shown to be very impulsive and emotional when it comes to dealing with Suzaku, Nunnally, Euphemia and Charles. He does tend to gloat and wisecrack a bit too, even to himself.
>>
>>152631226
>And her talk with Marianne wasn't about important info related to Lelouch/Zero & the BK or anything

Lelouch is objectively, unarguably a genius. He's smarter than the show writers, which is why his plans have no set up half the time: they're normal people attempting to write what a genius is like.

Trying to argue that Lelouch isn't "impeccably smart" is beyond edgy. Stop it.
>>
>>152635896
No actual reply to that point, I see.

Lelouch understood that C.C. had been betrayed and let down constantly over the centuries, and he saw that the way she treated him was like what he was doing with Zero. That's part of the reason why he rejects his father's claim that lies are bad. He accepts this of C.C. and that's why, in the end, she rejects Charles' plan, because Lelouch doesn't hate her for it, but accepts her.

The problem is that you are a stupid moron who can only see things in black and white. In your little peanut brain either C.C. is loyal or she's a traitor, fullstop. That's why you think that noting the times she helps Lelouch are a counter-argument - because you think people are saying she never cared for Lelouch at all. But we're not. We're saying it's complicated, and she wasn't totally loyal or totally disloyal for most of the series. Yes she helped Lelouch, no she wasn't always "loyal" to him.

Don't worry, I don't expect you to be able to grasp any of this.
>>
First time watching, probably the Euphemia massacre, Suzaku finding out that Zero is Lelouch or in R2 when Suzaku kicks Lelouch to the ground when they meet back at the temple. Gave me the chills.

On the rewatch though, seeing the faint glimpses of Charles' plan in the first few episodes that we already know of can be pretty eerie, also Lelouch revealing himself as Zero to the world.
Also, Black Rebellion speech.
>>
>>152635931
Sure, he's a genius, but how is the plan of "geass a few people offscreen" equivalent to "no set up" in any way? And the fact that he loses and almost never wins decisively is the exact opposite of "impeccable" in any case.
>>
>>152636106
CC literally

literally

literally

as in not figuratively

literally did not betray Lelouch. This isn't up for debate. This isn't a matter of opinion. She didn't betray him. She was on his side the entire time. Early on, she cared more about achieving her own goals than helping him, but she was never helping out anyone else over Lelouch.

>BUT SHE WAS GOING ALONG WITH CHARLES
No, she wasn't.

>BUT SHE WAS FEEDING INFORMATION TO MARIANNE
No, she wasn't.

>SHE ONLY STARTED TO BE LOYAL TO HIM AT THE END AFTER THE WORLD OF C
No, she was loyal the entire time.

>B-B-B-BUT I THINK I'M COOL AND RATIONAL IF I SAY IT'S COMPLICATED
It's not complicated. CC wanted to die. She worked with Lelouch and only Lelouch for this. She turned her back on Charles and Marianne and wasn't helping them out at all.
>>
>>152636188
>no set up
Him blowing up bombs we didn't even know existed is not a set up.

>he loses
He loses because of things that couldn't be calculated, like the skill of enemy pilots. In terms of strategy, no one can beat him. Lelouch is the smartest character in show and has an impeccable intellect.
>>
>>152635931
Lelouch is a flawed and inexperienced genius though, not a perfect one. That's the point of Geass making him one. If he really were supposed to be this perfect genius with no other traits, he would never make a mistake or be wrong.

Are you autistic or something ?
>>
>>152636308
Depends on the situation. For instance, in the hotel hijacking event, we saw the BKs plant the boms in a quick shot. Thus him blowing them up later was setup.

When he activates the trains with the Gefjun distubers during the second Tokyo battle, that was after we had already seen him at the train station during the episode that Jeremiah joined up. Sometimes the show does in fact portray enough information.

Collapsing the Tokyo settlement at the end of R1 without us ever being privy to the architectural structure was an example of something not being set up.

Destroying a city, (with people still in it) for no real good reason is not a good plan when you try to be the Knight of Justice.

Bullshit. He was rattling off possibilities and eliminating them. He grossly miscalculated the situation and was bailed out only by C.C.

He explicitly said he miscalculated the damage. Failing to account for the adjacent city is, as additionally, a matter of intellect.

Oh, didn't see it that way.
I wouldn't say it works though since the Euphemia incident is the result of not one, but two coincidental events: one is the geass going berserk, the other is Lelouch uttering the sentence "kill all the japanese". Which is weird in its own right, what are the odds? Moreover both of these unlikely events happen at the exact same fucking time.
If it were me I would have given Lelouch some kind of ominous, murderous catchphrase that wouldn't be unnatural for him to say and still bring about the same results. A huge twist like that deserved a higher level of preparation.
>>
>>152640454
>the other is Lelouch uttering the sentence "kill all the japanese". Which is weird in its own right, what are the odds?
He was trying to give an example of how his power can be used to make people do things totally counter to their personalities and convictions, he might have just as easily given the example of making Guilford kill Cornelia, or making Suzaku use "contemptible means", but Euphemia was there so that's what popped into his head.

>Moreover both of these unlikely events happen at the exact same fucking time.
If losing control over geass is something that happens gradually, it would make sense for it to only activate when he said something that could be interpreted as a command in the context of talking about using it as a geass command. Of course that isn't confirmed so it could go either way, but given that I have the choice, I choose to believe the one that makes the show more enjoyable for me.

>If losing control over geass is something that happens gradually, it would make sense for it to only activate when he said something that could be interpreted as a command

If losing control over geass is something that happens gradually, it would behoove them to actually show it. so the viewer doesn't have to ask themselves about it. You may choose whatever you wish, though the thing is: if the writing was actually good, you wouldn't have to question the circumstances of what happened, or piece the plot together yourself in a way that doesn't make this into a sizable ass-pull.

>He was trying to give an example of how his power can be used to make people do things totally counter to their personalities and convictions
I know what happened, thanks. I'm just saying it came out of nowhere. The very fact that Lelouch is using the expression "for example" should tip you in that the author is trying to force a character to say something he would never say/something that wouldn't make sense in context, for the express purpose of creating conflict (usually thank to a character listening in at the worst possible moment but here it's the geass). The scene would have went from so bad it's good to good if Okouchi had found a way for Lelouch to say something disastrous in a more casual, more subtle way, is all I'm saying. But it's probably for the better that he didn't. Code Geass also owns its popularity to stupid moments like this.
>>
>>152641738
I may be exaggerating a tad, but I still wouldn't call the coincidence minor. The thing with Euphie is arguably the biggest plot development in the first season, and the fact that it was brought about by coincidence is rather disappointing. It served the plot well, and I did like it, but it would've been better if I didn't have to think about it. It just needed that one push to make it truly be Lelouch's own negligence, and the whole thing would be legitimately great.

>>152641799
>But they did show it getting stronger beforehand. That time when tried to use it on a nobleman but is then interrupted by Rivalz. You can see that he flinched in pain.

I hardly remember that scene, to be frank. I'll check it out, though it seems to me him getting a cramp is a rather weak indicator that shit's about to get out of control. I guess it's at least reinforced in the scene with Euphie later, but shit's still pretty thin as far as foreshadowing goes. I may be wrong, though.

Depend on how you define "loyal". If you're using a definition under which a person who doesn't betray their ally only because they're never offered a better deal to betray them for is loyal then CC was always loyal. If your definition requires loyalty in heart as well as in action, then she only became loyal later on.

I think another one of their problems with Lelouch was that he was Lelouch, why this is such a problem for them I don't really get, he has just as much a reason to hate Britannia as the others yet they take personal offence to it for some reason. >Fake!Caliburn destroying Herc? Zouken being a moustache twirling villain and letting everyone be?

That route was to give an answer to the kind of life Shirou Emiya SHOULD live. He had to break free from his father's poisonous shadow and accomplish what he couldn't (destroy All Evils in the World) and obtain the life he wanted deep inside (a life with his one true love, who happens to be a Grail Waifu just like Sakura). He had to find the cure of his 'defect' which was still present in the other two routes, he's just less aware he's an empty man as Kotomine because he didn't bond with him to realize his issues. He did it by losing worthless memories and through death-rebirth anew.

It was to complete the ritual: Heaven's Feel.

In any case, 'Sakura's crimes' are more in her imagination. She tended to blame herself over everything, even her own abuse. Saber is the same as Sakura, someone who carries the blame and would snap (they are very suited as master/servant partners after both of them got blackened).

The Shadow was Avenger (or rather the Grail) consuming people as she slept, using the uncanny compatibility of Matou magic (and imaginary numbers) to make it happen. Avenger was innocent too. Sakura put a stop to this once she realized it by not sleeping again.

She only had control over it during the last days, after she snapped, by going Dark Sakura. The people she killed were: Kotomine Kirei, Zouken Matou, True Assassin, and Shinji Matou (accidentally).

There is no villain in HF. Everyone is somewhat responsible for what happens. You can even argue that Avenger himself is the most innocent victim of all. He still paid for it.

My impression was that he didn't really care about his mother in the real sense. He was just using her death as an excuse for his desires to change the world into his own liking. Even when he was under fake memories with Rolo being his brother, he was monologing to himself about how he was so bored and fed up with this current world or whatever.
I think CC sense this and that Marianne was a shit tier mother so maybe she thought it was for the best that she didn't say anything about her to Lelouch.
After all Lelouch kimself killed his mom and dad for good in that Ragnarok episode all by himself and didn't really seem that depressed for it at all.
CC being able to talk Marianne was an useless plot twist that served no purpose at all in the end. Lelouch was suspicious of CC when she lied about how she sensed when Nunnally was kidnapped (Most likely VV informed her about this) but he never said about this fact to her. He didn't seem to be minding it at all that CC knew her mom was kinda alive in the end and she was talking to her all the time.

CC never betrayed him. Up until the Mao arc, she prioritied her own agenda over his. After that while she was saying that she was always following her own agenda, she put Lelouch's desires first.
She stopped wanting to die just because Lelouch asked for it even though it was supposedly her a long time wish.
She is just someone who pretends to be tough and nonchalant but lonely and wants to be recognized/loved by someone.

So what is this from?
>>
>>152640367
It wasn't evil, just that Lelouch was so butthurt to accept it because muh disabled sister is pitiful.
>>
>>152664506
>My impression was that he didn't really care about his mother in the real sense. He was just using her death as an excuse for his desires to change the world into his own liking.
why do people do this? he very much was out for revenge on her behalf throughout the show, this is shown to us numerous of times before the reveal, when he, as a child, asked for an audience with the king about his mother. its been said numerous times that charles ahd many wives and marriane was his least favorite(before the reveal) so everything up to that point was for marianne and nunnally.
had to break up cause of stupid limit
>>
>>152664506

>memories with Rolo being his brother, he was monologuing to himself
charles implanted memories and took away his memories of marianne and nunnally so eh was always tired of the world but now there is no explanation for is tiredness.
>I think CC sense this and that Marianne was a shit tier mother so maybe she thought it was for the best that she didn't say anything about her to Lelouch.
CC was shown to be heartless person after living for many years and being betrayed by the one person she cared about. that didnt change probably till the mao arc. not sure about that though.
>After all Lelouch kimself killed his mom and dad for good in that Ragnarok episode all by himself and didn't really seem that depressed for it at all.
because he was smore angry than anything and he still had nunnally as his reason for fighting so not everything up to then was pointless
>CC being able to talk Marianne was an useless plot twist that served no purpose at all in the end. I'm not sure about this one. at times before Emperor lelouch hes repeatedly said that she's just an accomplice and seeing as he can't kill her and she know his identity and could fuck everything up, and would probably end up like mao. its better to keep her by your side where you can watch her.

Lelouch is egotistical as fuck, he had his ideals about his mom and all. I can't say that he didn't care about her at all but when he started his rebellion he was saying that he was doing it for the sake of his mom and sister but in reality he was doing it all for himself.
He killed Charles and his mom Marianne hirself when he decided that they were terrible humans and didn't care more for Marianne when he understood that she wasn't anywhere near his ideals.

>charles implanted memories and took away his memories of marianne and nunnally so eh was always tired of the world but now there is no explanation for is tiredness.
He was bored with the world and wanted to change it. His last words were pretty much "I destroyed the world and created it anew." He was pretty prideful of the fact that he had territory and an army in ep 15 when Charles had him trapped in the thought elevator thingly. so it is safe to say Lelouch wanted to recreate the world.

>CC was shown to be heartless person after living for many years and being betrayed by the one person she cared about. that didnt change probably till the mao arc. not sure about that though.
CC always cared about Lelouch but after the Mao arc she started to be a lot more supportive of him.

>CC always cared about Lelouch
ok now it all makes sense.
>>
>>152665434
She was watching him and Nunnally when they first came to Japan after all.
>>
CC is not really a heartless person. She was willing to go along with Mao when he said he was going to reveal Zero's identity if she didn't come with him and she accepted it even though she knew that he was a psychopath.
That being said she didn't hate Mao as well and asked Lelouch to spare him when he was about to be shot.
Most likely she couldn't bring herself to kill Mao when he went nuts and made her impossible to deal with him.

Fateshit is not actual fiction. When you read or watch a story, you're expecting a structured narrative with thematic characters moving towards an inevitable conclusion. Fateshit is not that. Fateshit is literally

>and then this happens
>and then this happens
>and then this happens
>and then this happens

It's the most American of all Japanese series. Watching Fate is like reading capeshit in the US. It's like watching an American sitcom. It's not a story. There's no theme or idea. There's no structure or crescendo. It's a continual masturbation.

So, again, don't pollute threads about actual anime with your Nasu faggotry. Code Geass, whether you like it or hate it, is a story. It has a beginning, middle, and end. It has characters. It has themes. It has a conclusion. Nothing Nasu has ever written has any of these things. Take your Nasu shit back to /co/ where it belongs, so you can argue about whether Flash can kill Servants or not.

>>152679548

Just the end of episode one gets me. When CC's voice is ringing in Lelouch's mind and he makes the contract with her. Then when he uses Geass for the first time and smiles at the bloody mess of the soldiers' bodies. Knowing how it all turns out makes that scene so much better.

What the fuck was the emperor's problem? He wanted to create a kind world where the living and dead were combined and everyone could read each others thoughts or something. That being said, why didn't he also use his time as emperor to create a more peaceful world? Doing so wouldn't have hurt his Ragnarok Connection plan. And it probably would have made the God/The Collective Unconscious less angry.
>>
>>152686255
The reason he started all those wars was because he needed access to the thought elevators, and you can't exactly start securing all these areas in different countries without subjagating them first.
>>
>>152686255
Softening up would have made the Empire look weak and risked inviting attacks, I suppose.
But why would an Emperor want everyone to be equal in the first place?
>>
>>152686427
That makes sense. But then why did he send Lelouch and Nunnally to an area he was just going to attack in a few years? Supposedly he cared about them.
