I think they could have just left out the whole Rossiu betrayal and just left it with Nia being "evil" and the Spiral King "working" with them. I love Gurren Lagann, but the whole Rossiu betryal arc felt like it was added at the last minute. Like they felt Simon needed more shit to deal with because apparently the love of your life being controlled by another being and having to deal with the Anti-Spirals wasn't enough.
